NBC TO BROADCAST FINAL ROUND OF THE LPGA’S FINAL MAJOR, THE EVIAN CHAMPIONSHIP

Newly-Minted Major will be Showcased with more than 20 Hours of Television Coverage on Golf Channel and NBC

DAYTONA BEACH / ORLANDO, Fla., Aug. 15, 2013 – The LPGA’s newest major, the Evian Championship, will feature network coverage on NBC, the LPGA and NBC Sports Group announced today. In total, more than 20 hours of tournament coverage will air on Golf Channel and NBC on the newly redesigned Evian Resort Golf Club in Evian-Les-Bains, France, Sept. 12-15. On the heels of a multi-million golf course renovation, the Evian Championship debuts as the LPGA’s fifth major.

“As the LPGA’s global fanbase continues to grow, it is imperative for our Tour to be on network television in the United States multiple times each year,” said LPGA Commissioner Michael Whan. “NBC’s final round coverage of the Evian will be a great opportunity to reach fans who might not otherwise tune into the LPGA.”

“Together, the LPGA and NBC Sports are further showcasing the women’s game with coverage on NBC of this year’s final major, the Evian Championship,” said Golf Channel President Mike McCarley. “With the world’s best players converging upon picturesque Evian Resort Golf Club and Inbee Park looking to become the first professional in history to win four major championships in the same year, the Evian Championship will make for captivating television.”

Each of the first three rounds of the Evian Championship will feature five hours of live tournament coverage on Golf Channel – 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. ET on Thursday and Friday (Sept. 12-13) and 6-11 a.m. on Saturday (Sept. 14). Final round coverage on Sunday, Sept. 15will air on Golf Channel from 8:30 a.m.-Noon ET and will conclude on NBC from Noon-1:30 p.m. ET.

Terry Gannon and Hall-of-Famer Judy Rankin will anchor NBC Sports Group’s tournament coverage from Evian Resort Golf Club.
