COMCAST SPORTSNET TO TELEVISE 3 WASHINGTON KASTLES MATCHES DURING 2013 WTT SEASON
COVERAGE BEGINS JULY 8 WITH SEASON OPENER FEATURING VENUS WILLIAMS AS KASTLES ATTEMPT TO EQUAL HISTORIC WINNING STREAK
NETWORK’S WTT SCHEDULE ALSO INCLUDES 2 OTHER LEAGUE MATCHES, FINALS
Bethesda, Md. (July 2, 2013) – Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic will present live coverage of three Washington Kastles matches during the 2013 WorldTeam Tennis (WTT) regular season as the team attempts to extend its historic 32-game winning streak and claim a third consecutive championship. The network will also televise two other WTT matches and the league finals this season as part of its six-match tennis schedule in July.
Comcast SportsNet’s schedule begins when Venus Williams and the Kastles host the New York Sportimes – and seek to tie the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers’ record 33-game winning streak for U.S. team sports – in the season opener at Kastles Stadium at the Wharf on July 8 at 7 p.m. The network will present a special pre-game show, Kastles Central, at 6:30 p.m. as part of its opening-night coverage, which will be hosted by Julie Donaldson.
Comcast SportsNet’s live Kastles coverage continues with matches against the Boston Lobsters on July 9 at 7 p.m., which will also include Williams, and against Andy Roddick and the Springfield Lasers on July 11 at 7 p.m. The July 8 and July 11 telecasts will be led by play-by-play announcer Joe Beninati and analysts John Feinstein and Rennae Stubbs.
Comcast SportsNet’s schedule of WTT coverage will also include the Springfield Lasers at Philadelphia Freedoms on July 10 at 7 p.m. and the Orange County Breakers at Texas Wild on July 20 (time TBD.) The WTT Finals on July 28 will also be televised by Comcast SportsNet (time TBD).
