THE ‘LIGHTS
NBC Sports Network’s live coverage of the Preakness Stakes begins Friday at 4 p.m. ET with the Black Eyed Susan Stakes. Coverage continues on Saturday on NBC Sports Network with Preakness Prep at 2:30 p.m. ET, followed by the Preakness Stakes on NBC at 4:30 p.m. ET and culminates with the post-race show on NBC Sports Network at 6:30 p.m. ET.
NBC’s coverage of the 138th Preakness Stakes is co-hosted by 25-time Emmy Award-winner Bob Costas and NBC’s veteran horse racing commentator Tom Hammond; two-time Preakness Stakes-winning jockey Jerry Bailey; analyst Randy Moss; contributing analysts/handicappers Mike Battaglia and Bob Neumeier; host Laffit Pincay, III; reporters Kenny Rice, Donna Brothers and Jay Privman; race caller Larry Collmus, a Baltimore native; and Michelle Beadle, who will contribute features and handle interviews.
NBC Sports Group’s coverage of the 2013 Amgen Tour of California continues this weekend with the final stages of the race. Weekend coverage begins on NBC Sports Network tonight at 5 p.m. as the world’s top professional cyclists race through San Jose. NBC Sports Network’s coverage continues on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET, followed by the final stage on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on NBC and at 10:30 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network.
Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen will be on site in California to provide commentary and insight for each day of NBC Sports Group’s coverage with reporters Bob Roll and Steve Porino (‘Inside-the-Race’).
Coverage of the 2013 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs continues Friday night with Conference Semifinal action. Coverage begins on NBC Sports Network at 7 p.m. ET with NHL Live hosted by Bill Patrick, Jeremy Roenick and Keith Jones.
At 7:30 p.m. ET the Pittsburgh Penguins host the Ottawa Senators on NBC Sports Network (Pittsburgh leads 1-0). Rick Peckham will manage play-by-play alongside analyst Brian Engblom from Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pa.
On Saturday, May 18, NBC will air the Chicago Blackhawks hosting the Detroit Red Wings at 1 p.m. ET (Chicago leads 1-0). Mike ‘Doc’ Emrick will call play-by-play, joined by analyst Eddie Olczyk and Emmy-award winning ‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst Pierre McGuire at the United Center in Chicago, Ill.
Coverage returns to NBC Sports Network on Saturday night at 9 p.m. ET when the San Jose Sharks host the Los Angeles Kings (Los Angeles leads 2-0). John Forslund will manage play-by-play with analyst Joe Micheletti from the HP Pavilion at San Jose, Calif. NBC Sports Network’s studio show, NHL Live, hosted by Russ Thaler and Keith Jones, will provide insights and analysis following the game.
Sunday at 3 p.m. ET, Conference Semifinals continue on NBC with the Boston Bruins hosting the New York Rangers (Boston leads 1-0). Dave Strader will serve as play-by-play announcer alongside Emmy-award winning ‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst Pierre McGuire from TD Garden in Boston, Mass.
NBC Sports Network’s coverage on Sunday begins at 7:30 p.m. ET when the Pittsburgh Penguins travel to Ottawa to take on the Senators. Rick Peckham will manage play-by-play alongside analyst Brian Engblom from Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, Ontario.
NBC Sports Network begins coverage surrounding the Indianapolis 500 with live qualifying this weekend. Coverage begins on Saturday, May 18, at noon ET and returns on Sunday, May 19, at noon ET, and is highlighted by the NBC Sports Network broadcast debut of former IndyCar driver and 2003 Indy 500 winner Gil de Ferran.
Ten years after his Indy 500 win, de Ferran takes over analyst duties from NBC Sports Network IndyCar analyst Townsend Bell, who is attempting to qualify for his seventh Indy 500. In 2009, Bell finished fourth in the race.
Sharing the booth with de Ferran includes play-by-play announcer Leigh Diffey and analyst Jon Beekhuis. Diffey is working IndyCar this weekend, but will travel abroad next week to call the Monaco Grand Prix. Veterans Kevin Lee and Marty Snider manage the pits, and are joined by reporters Robin Miller and Will Buxton, the Formula One reporter who is making his inaugural trip to the Brickyard.
Coverage on Sunday will feature Bell driving first-timer Buxton around the oval at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in a two-seater.
The BMW Charity Pro-Am is the only tournament on the Web.com schedule that features both amateurs and celebrities competing alongside Tour professionals in a better-ball competition played over four golf courses. Celebrities scheduled to compete in this year’s tournament include actors Lucas Black, Anthony Anderson, Craig T. Nelson and Kurt Russell; hockey icon Wayne Gretzky and Carolina Hurricanes head coach Kirk Muller; among others.
Golf Channel live air times for the tournament are Saturday-Sunday (May 18-19), 3-5 p.m. ET. Golf Channel’s Web.com broadcast team at the BMW Charity Pro-Am will feature Whit Watson handling play-by-play duties, Craig Perks as lead analyst, Phil Blackmar calling selected holes from a tower position and Phil Parkin and Kay Cockerill reporting from the golf course.
