NBC SPORTS GROUP TO AIR DAILY COVERAGE OF 2013 AMGEN TOUR OF CALIFORNIA – MAY 12-19

Daily Coverage on NBC Sports Network Begins Sunday, May 12 at 5 p.m. ET

NBC Will Air Final Stage Live on Sunday, May 19, at 1 p.m. ET

NEW YORK – May 9, 2013 – NBC Sports Group will present 14.5 hours of live coverage and provide daily coverage of the 2013 Amgen Tour of California, the premier U.S.-based cycling event, featuring some of the world’s top professional cyclists, starting on NBC Sports Network on Sunday, May 12, at 5 p.m. ET and culminating in live coverage of the final stage on NBC on Sunday, May 19 at 1 p.m. ET.

Top American cyclists competing include 24-year old Tejay van Garderen of the BMC Racing Team, who placed fourth last year, and fifth in the 2012 Tour de France, and David Zabriskie, who has four second place finishes. Sprinter Tyler Farrar returns to California after a three-year hiatus.

International contenders are highlighted by 2010 Amgen Tour of California winner Michael Rogers of Australia, and 23-year old Slovakian Peter Sagan of Team Cannondale, who returns after winning five of the eight stages at last year’s race.

COMMENTATORS: Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen will be on site in California to provide commentary and insight for each day of NBC Sports Group’s coverage with reporters Bob Roll and Steve Porino (‘Inside-the-Race’).
