NEW YORK – March 19, 2013Zach Parise and the Northwest Division-leading Minnesota Wild (34pts) travel to Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Mich. to take on Pavel Datsyuk and the Red Wings (33pts) on NBC Sports Network’s Wednesday Night Rivalry at 7:30 p.m. ET. Emmy Award-winning play-by-play commentator Mike ‘Doc’ Emrick, analyst Eddie Olczyk and ‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst Pierre McGuire will call the game.

Coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. ET. with NHL Live, NBC Sports Group’s NHL pregame show. Liam McHugh hosts NHL Live from Studio 2 at NBC Sports Group’s International Broadcast Center in Stamford, Conn., and will be joined by former NHL player, coach and GM Mike Milbury, and former NHL RW Keith Jones.

DOC EMRICK ON WILD-RED WINGS: “Since Hockey Day in America a month ago, when the Wild and Zach Parise beat Detroit, 3-2, Minnesota has risen to the top spot in the division, and has won nine of their last 13 games. The Red Wings are improved as well on the strength of their last two games, come-from-behind road wins at Edmonton and Vancouver. The two teams are crossing paths at just the right time.”

PIERRE MCGUIRE ON WILD-RED WINGS: “Detroit is what Minnesota wants to become–a skilled, passionate team that does not take nights off. This is a measuring stick game for the Wild. Are they a real player in the Western Conference? For Detroit, it is a chance to keep showing their fans, and the rest of the teams in the West, that they are still a contender.”

In addition to NBC Sports Network’s Wednesday Night Rivalry matchup between the Wild and Red Wings, the network will also deliver coverage of three other games over three nights, beginning Sunday: Philadelphia Flyers–Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday night; Los Angeles Kings–Chicago Blackhawks on Monday night; and New York Rangers–Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night.

FLYERS– PENGUINS SUNDAY NIGHT

NBC Sports Network’s NHL coverage will continue on Sunday, March 24 with a passionate in-state rivalry between the Philadelphia Flyers (27pts) and the Pittsburgh Penguins (44pts) at 7:30 p.m. ET. The last meeting between the two teams resulted in a wild 5-4 victory for the Penguins. Mike ‘Doc’ Emrick (play-by-play), Eddie Olczyk (analyst) and Pierre McGuire (‘Inside-the-Glass’) will call the action from the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pa.

KINGS-BLACKHAWKS MONDAY NIGHT

Monday, March 25, the league-leading Chicago Blackhawks (51pts), who started the season with a record-breaking 22-game point streak, will host the defending Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings (34pts) at 8 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network. Dave Strader (play-by-play) and Joe Micheletti (‘Inside-the-Glass’) will call the game from the United Center in Chicago, Ill.

RANGERS-FLYERS TUESDAY NIGHT

On Tuesday, March 26, NBC Sports Network features a Broadway vs. Broad Street matchup between the New York Rangers (30pts) and the Philadelphia Flyers (27pts) at 7:30 p.m. ET. Gord Miller (play-by-play) and McGuire (‘Inside-the-Glass’) will call the action from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pa., in a meeting of one of the most-storied rivalries in the NHL. The division rivals are both currently out of the playoffs, ranked no. 9 and no. 12 respectively in the Eastern Conference standings, and are in need of points to have a chance of making the post-season.
