NEW YORK – Feb. 26, 2013 — Wednesday Night Rivalry continues tomorrow on NBC Sports Network featuring the Washington Capitals against the Philadelphia Flyers at 7:30 p.m. ET. The Flyers are currently third in the Atlantic division with 19 points, while the Capitals are looking to gain ground in the Southeast division (13 points).
Emmy Award-winning play-by-play commentator Mike ‘Doc’ Emrick, analyst Eddie Olczyk and ‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst Pierre McGuire will call the game live from Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Penn.
PIERRE MCGUIRE: “When the Capitals play against the Flyers, it is never a friendly game. Both teams are starting to play at a very competitive level. The Flyers have an edge to their game that can drive opposition stars crazy. The key on Wednesday is whether Capitals’ star Alexander Ovechkin can battle through the physical intensity of the Flyers’ approach.”
EDDIE OLCZYK: “The Capitals are playing better. Captain Alexander Ovechkin and center Mike Ribeiro are heating up. Troy Brouwer is off to a great start and goalie Braden Holtby looks to have regained his form from last year. The Flyers are trying to get on a roll and goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov has been consistent while Wayne Simmonds is emerging as premier power forward. Scott Hartnell, back after injury, will bring a needed element to the Flyers team game.”
LIAM MCHUGH: “Claude Giroux is much more than just an electric talent, he’s emerging as a true leader and tone-setter for the Flyers. He’s the rare pro-athlete who possesses both the presence to stand up and speak his mind in the locker room one day, and the ability to back up his tough talk on the ice the next.”
