NEW YORK – September 6, 2012 – NBC and NBC Sports Network will kick off their 2012 college football coverage this Saturday with three exciting match ups. NBC will celebrate its 22nd year of broadcasting Notre Dame Football with the team’s home opener at 3:30 p.m. ET, when the #22-ranked Fighting Irish host the Purdue Boilermakers in South Bend, Ind.Veteran NBC announcer Tom Hammond will handle play-by-play for the Notre Dame game, alongside analyst Mike Mayock and sideline reporter Alex Flanagan.NBC Sports Network will telecast its first game of the 2012 college football season at 3:30 p.m. ET, when the Delaware Fighting Blue Hens host their in-state rival, the Delaware State Hornets, at Tubbey Raymond Field. Each team opened the 2012 season with home victories last week. The Hornets will look to rebound after last year’s 45-0 defeat against the Blue Hens, in the annual competition for the First State Cup Trophy.Todd Harris will serve as the play-by-play announcer for the game and will be joined in the booth by analyst Ross Tucker. Carolyn Mannowill report from the sideline.Later that night, the San Diego State Aztecs will take the field against the Army Black Knights at 7:30 p.m. on NBC Sports Network. The Black Knights open their 2012 season on the road against the Aztecs and will seek revenge for last season’s difficult 23-20 loss at home.

Paul Burmeister will manage the play-by-play duties for the game and will be joined by analyst and NFL Hall of Fame inductee Rod Woodson, who makes his NBC Sports Network debut. Anthony Herron will serve as the sideline reporter.

NBC Sports’ college football studio team of Liam McHugh, 1984 Heisman Trophy Winner Doug Flutie, and two-time Super Bowl champion Hines Ward will provide pre-game, halftime and post-game coverage across NBC and NBC Sports Network. Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, and Peter King of Sports Illustrated will join the studio crew at halftime of the Notre Dame game on NBC.

NBC SPORTS LIVE EXTRA DIGITAL COVERAGE

NBC Sports Live Extra Online: For the third consecutive season, all of NBC’s Notre Dame games will be streamed live on NBCSports.com. NBC Sports Live Extra will feature a simulcast of the broadcast feed in full HD quality plus one additional online-only bonus camera. The video player will include picture-in-picture capability and full DVR functionality, allowing the user to pause the live video and even review plays in “slo-mo.”

Sideline reporter Alex Flanagan will provide live in-game tweets. Additionally, fans can watch live coverage of the Notre Dame and visiting teams’ bands at halftime, in-game highlights, as well as a live postgame footage that will include head coach Brian Kelly’s press conference.

NBC Sports Live Extra App: Notre Dame vs. Purdue will be the first event live streamed for the new NBC Sports Live Extra app, since it re-launched after NBC’s coverage of the 2012 London Olympics.

In the coming months, the new app will live stream an abundance of live sporting events that air on NBC, NBC Sports Network or Golf Channel, including MLS, NHL, PGA TOUR, LPGA, European PGA TOUR, Ryder Cupand more, with the vast majority of content only available to TV Everywhere customers.
