NBC SPORTS NETWORK MLS COVERAGE THIS WEEKEND FEATURES COLORADO AGAINST SEATTLE

Live Coverage from CenturyLink Field in Seattle Begins Saturday at 11 p.m. ET “This Western Conference rivalry has intensified over the past couple of seasons.” - NBC’s Arlo White

NEW YORK – July 3, 2012 – NBC Sports Network will air an MLS Western Conference game between the #3 Seattle Sounders FC and the #5 Colorado Rapids this Saturday at 11 p.m. ET, live from CenturyLink Field in Seattle, Wash.

COMMENTATORS: NBC Sports Network’s lead soccer commentary team of Arlo White (@arlowhite, play-by-play), and Kyle Martino (@kylemartino, “Between the Benches” analyst) will call the game while Russ Thaler (@RussThaler) will host the pre-game, halftime and post-game segments on-site.

WHITE ON THE MATCH: “This Western Conference rivalry has intensified over the past couple of seasons.  The teams played out a 7-goal thriller at CenturyLink Field last season, with Seattle edging Colorado 4-3.  The 38,000 Sounders fans always produce a magnificent atmosphere, but there was a real edge to proceedings in that match, as some vented their anger against the Rapids veteran Brian Mullan.  It was his tackle on Steve Zakuani last April still has the flying winger on the sidelines recovering from a broken leg.”

WHITE ON SEATTLE: “Seattle will be coming off a tough midweek trip to Real Salt Lake, but will be encouraged that former U.S. Men’s National team striker Eddie Johnson has started scoring regularly.  For the Rapids, bulldozing striker Conor Casey is back from a long injury, to add muscle and aggression to a team who try and play attractive passing Soccer.”
