NATIONAL HEADS-UP POKER CHAMPIONSHIP SEMIFINAL & FINAL AIR THIS SUNDAY ON NBC
NEW YORK – May 19, 2011 – NBC will broadcast the final installment of the National Heads-Up Poker Championship presented by GoDaddy.com from CaesarsPalace in Las Vegas, Nev. this Sunday at Noon ET. The tournament began with 64 players and now only four remain. Both Semifinal matches as well as the best-of-three Final will be presented this Sunday in a special three-hour finale. The 2011 NHPC winner will receive the $750,000 first-place prize while the runner-up takes home $300,000.
The Semifinal round features both NHPC veterans and newcomers. Jonathan Duhamel and Andrew Robl, 23 and 24 years old, respectively, are playing in their first-ever NHPC. Their opponents, Chris Moneymaker and Erik Seidel, however, are two of just sixteen players who have played in this event every year since its inception in 2005.
Moneymaker and Duhamel, two former World Series of Poker Main Event champions, compete in the first Semifinal. In the second, Robl goes head-to-head with Seidel, who is on a hot streak at the NHPC winning nine of his last 10 matches in the tournament.
The Semifinal winners advance to the Final later in Sunday’s show, while the losers walk away with $125,000.
NBC’s Craig Hummer, Ali Nejad and Leeann Tweeden call the action.
