Wizards Studio Analyst, NBC Sports Washington

Phil Chenier serves as an analyst for NBC Sports’ live-game coverage of the Washington Wizards, a position he has held since the 1984-85 season, the network’s first full season.

Chenier has been connected with the Wizards/Bullets organization since 1971, when he was the organization’s first-round choice, fourth overall, in the NBA Entry Draft. As a player, Chenier spent nine seasons with the Wizards/Bullets organization from 1971-72 to 1979-80, including the team’s 1978 World Championship season.

Overall, Chenier recorded 9,778 points for the Bullets in 546 games and averaged 20-or-more points per game for five consecutive seasons from 1972-73 to 1976-77. He appeared in three NBA All-Star Games and named to the All-NBA Second Team for the 1974-75 season. He appeared in 60 playoff games for the franchise. He also spent one season each with the Indiana and Golden State before retiring in 1981 with a career 17.2 points-per-game average over 10 NBA seasons.

A native of Berkeley, Calif., Chenier played collegiately at the University of California.
