Gymnastics Reporter & Play-By-Play

Andrea Joyce serves as a gymnastics reporter and play-by-play commentator during the 2016 Olympics Games.  Rio marks Joyce’s ninth Olympics with NBC Sports Group and 13th Olympics overall. Most recently Joyce served as a figure skating and short track speed skating reporter at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

Joyce joined NBC Sports in 2000 and has covered a variety of events, including the U.S. Figure Skating Championships and the P&G Gymnastics Championships.

Before joining NBC, Joyce spent nine years at CBS, covering events that ranged from the NCAA Division I Final Four to the U.S. Open Tennis Championship. Joyce served as host of CBS’ early-round coverage of the 1991 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship, College Football Today; CBS’ college football studio show; the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship Final Four and title-game broadcasts from 1991-94; as well as the 1990 Heisman Trophy Award show.

Her work in local television includes a stint as weekend sports anchor for Dallas’ WFAA-TV in 1987, and as news anchor and field reporter for Denver’s KMGH-TV.

Joyce and husband, Harry Smith, have two sons.
