STAMFORD, Conn. – Dec. 6, 2019 – NBC Sports presents over 19 hours of coverage of the IHF Women’s World Handball Championship starting this Sunday, Dec. 8, live at 6:30 a.m. ET on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA with main round match play from Kumamoto, Japan.

The winner (second-place finisher if Olympic host Japan wins) will earn a team quota place for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. France is the defending world champion.

Streaming coverage begins this Sunday at 4 a.m. ET when Germany takes on Netherlands, which will be live on OlympicChannel.com and the Olympic Channel app. Live television coverage starts at 6:30 a.m. ET on Sunday with Norway vs. Denmark on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA.

Both semifinal matches air Friday, Dec. 13 on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA (2:30 p.m. ET and 10 p.m. ET). The gold medal match will be shown Sunday, Dec. 15 at 5:30 p.m. ET on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA, with NBCSN televising an encore Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 10:30 p.m. E.T.
