STAMFORD, Conn. – Nov. 20, 2019 – Three-time Olympic medalist Mikaela Shiffrin headlines the alpine skiing World Cup, highlighting this week’s NBC Sports Olympic programming.
Shiffrin, who set a record with 17 World Cup wins last season, looks for her first victory of the 2019-20 season this weekend when men’s and women’s slalom races take place in Levi, Finland. Shiffrin has 40 career World Cup slalom wins, tied with Sweden’s Ingemar Stenmark for the most all-time.
Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA will present live television coverage at 7 a.m. ET on both Saturday and Sunday. NBC Sports Gold will present the races live on Saturday at 4 a.m. ET and 7 a.m. ET. The men’s slalom event takes place this Sunday, Nov. 24, at 4 a.m. ET and 7 a.m. ET live on NBC Sports Gold.
NBCSN presents coverage of the women’s slalom event this Saturday, Nov. 23, at 6 p.m. ET.

NBC Sports presents coverage of Grand Prix Japan on Sunday at 4 p.m. ET on NBC. 2006 Olympic ice dance silver medalist Tanith White will call the action on NBC, alongside Olympic gold medalist Tara Lipinski and U.S. champion Johnny Weir.
Two-time Olympic champion Yuzuru Hanyu and 2014 U.S. Olympian Jason Brown highlight the men’s field in Japan, while 2018 Olympic gold medalist Alina Zagitova takes on her 16-year-old training mate, Aliona Kostornaya, in the ladies’ event.
Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA presents encore coverage of Grand Prix Russia this week featuring every skater in every discipline. Coverage continues tonight, Wednesday, Nov. 20, with the ladies’ short program at 8 p.m. ET and tomorrow, Thursday, Nov. 21, with the pairs’ short program at 8 p.m. ET and pair’s free skate at 9 p.m. ET. GYMNASTICS APPARATUS WORLD CUP – COTTBUS, GERMANY

The fifth of eight individual apparatus World Cups, which factor into Olympic qualification, will take place this weekend in Cottbus, Germany. At the end of the apparatus World Cup series in March, the athlete with the most points on each apparatus (four for women, six for men) will qualify for the Tokyo Olympics. 2016 Olympic team alternate Donnell Whittenburg and 2018 world team member Colin Van Wicklen are expected to compete for the United States men in Cottbus.

SPEED SKATING WORLD CUP – TOMASZOW MAZOWIECKI, POLAND

The speed skating World Cup season continues this week in Poland as two-time Olympian and 2018 Olympic team pursuit bronze medalist Brittany Bowe and two-time Olympian and 2017 mass start world champion Joey Mantia are expected to headline the American contingent. Bowe, who won at last week’s World Cup event in Minsk, Belarus, is the current world champion and world record holder in the 1000m.

CYCLO-CROSS WORLD CUP – KOKSIJDE, BELGIUM

The Cyclo-Cross World Cup season continues with the fifth stop of the series this weekend in Koksijde, Belgium. Cyclo-cross, a non-Olympic discipline, combines cycling, steeplechase and NASCAR all into one, with athletes racing around a circuit course with steep hills, difficult descents, mud, grass, sand and dirt. The United States is currently ranked third in the overall nation standings on both the men’s and women’s sides. American Kaitie Keough is the top-ranked American in the individual standings this season.

The luge World Cup season kicks off this weekend in Innsbruck, Austria. 2018 Olympic silver medalist Chris Mazdzer is expected to compete in both singles and doubles this season, with two-time Olympian Jayson Terdiman as his doubles teammate. Two-time Olympian Summer Britcher, who has the most World Cup singles victories (five) all-time in USA Luge history, is expected to headline the American women.

The 2019 European Curling Championships, which will be used as a qualification event for the 2020 World Championships, conclude this weekend in Helsingborg, Sweden. Seven men’s teams (excluding Worlds host Scotland) and six women’s teams will earn berths to next year’s World Championships. Led by 2018 Olympic gold medalist Anna Hasselborg, Sweden’s women’s team won the European title last season, while Scotland won the men’s tournament.
