Liam McHugh to Host Halftime Coverage with Simms On-Site at Notre Dame Stadium

STAMFORD, Conn. – Nov. 13, 2019 – NBC Sports continues its coverage of the 2019 Notre Dame football season this Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBC, when QB Ian Book and the No. 16 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (7-2) host No. 23 Navy (7-1) in a showdown of Top 25 teams from Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Ind.

NBC Sports’ Notre Dame Football commentary team of Mike Tirico (play-by-play), Doug Flutie (analyst), Kathryn Tappen (sideline reporter), and Terry McAulay (rules analyst) will call the game. NBC Sports’ Liam McHugh will host studio coverage alongside Chris Simms, who will also serve as an in-game sideline analyst.

Notre Dame meets Navy for the 93rd consecutive year, dating back to the inaugural meeting in the series in 1927. Notre Dame leads the all-time series, 78-13-1, and has won the past two meetings, including a 44-22 victory last season in a neutral-site meeting in San Diego, California.

The Fighting Irish look for their third consecutive victory this season after defeating Duke, 38-7, on the road last weekend. Notre Dame outgained the Blue Devils, 469-197, in the win and were led by Book, who threw four touchdown passes and rushed for a career-high 139 yards. With last weekend’s performance, Book joined Brady Quinn as the only Notre Dame quarterbacks to throw at least four touchdown passes in four or more career games.

No. 23 Navy, who have won five games in a row, defeated UConn, 56-10, two weeks ago behind a rushing attack which gained 408 yards and scored seven touchdowns. QB Malcolm Perry rushed for 108 yards on 11 carries and had three total touchdowns (two rushing, one passing) in the win.

Fighting Irish defensive lineman Kurt Hinish will be featured during this week’s halftime, providing behind-the-scenes access into his life as a student athlete preparing for the weekend’s game.
