World Para Track & Field Championships Kick Off this Week; NBC Sports to Provide Most Comprehensive Coverage with 50 Hours of Live Coverage

STAMFORD, Conn. – Nov. 7, 2019 – Five-time Olympic gold medalist Katie Ledecky and four-time Olympic medalist Simone Manuel headline NBC Sports’ live coverage of the TYR Pro Swim Series in Greensboro, North Carolina, this week.

This week’s event in Greensboro, which also includes 12-time Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte, is the first of five series stops throughout the country between now and May 2020 as the country’s top swimmers prepare for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Live coverage begins this Friday, Nov. 8, at 6 p.m. ET on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA, with encore coverage later that evening at 10:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN. Coverage concludes live on NBCSN at 6 p.m. ET on Saturday.

The 2019 World Para Track & Field Championships, the final major competition heading into next year’s Paralympic Games in Tokyo, begin this week from Dubai, United Arab Emirates. NBC Sports will provide its most comprehensive coverage of the event ever, with approximately 50 hours of live coverage across NBC Sports platforms.

Two-time Paralympic gold medalist Deja Young is expected to headline the American team as she attempts to defend her 100m and 200m T47 world titles. In total, 14 Americans will be in Dubai for their world title defense. Of the 63 members on Team U.S.A., 43 have Paralympic experience and 14 are Paralympic champions, including David Brown (with guide Jerome Avery) and Roderick Townsend.

Live coverage began this morning on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA and continues live every day at 9 a.m. ET from Friday, Nov. 8, through next Friday, Nov. 15.

Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA presents encore coverage of Grand Prix France this week featuring every skater. Encore coverage continues tonight, Thursday, Nov. 7, at 8 p.m. ET. 2006 Olympic ice dance silver medalist Tanith White called the action, joined by 2014 Olympic team event bronze medalist Ashley Wagner.

Tonight’s Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA’s coverage includes the pairs’ short program at 8 p.m. ET and pairs’ free skate at 9 p.m. ET.

NBC Sports also presents coverage of Grand Prix China on Sunday at Noon ET on NBC. Grand Prix China is highlighted by two-time world medalist Satoko Miyahara from Japan in the ladies’ event, plus two-time world medalist Jin Boyang seeking a medal on home ice in the men’s competition.

 

WORLD URBAN CYCLING CHAMPIONSHIPS – CHENGDU, CHINA

TV COVERAGE BEGINS SUNDAY, NOV. 10 AT 5:30 P.M. ET ON OLYMPIC CHANNEL: HOME OF TEAM USA

The world’s best BMX riders head to Chengdu, China, for the World Urban Cycling Championships. American Justin Dowell, the favorite for gold this year, seeks his second straight world title in BMX Freestyle Park. The 19-year-old currently leads the UCI rankings in BMX Freestyle.

Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA presents coverage on Sunday, Nov. 10 with the Women’s Elite competition at 5:30 p.m. ET and the Men’s Elite competition at 7 p.m. ET. TRACK CYCLING WORLD CUP – GLASGOW, SCOTLAND

The Track Cycling World Cup continues this weekend with a three-day event from Glasgow, Scotland. Results from this season’s World Cup events will factor into the Olympic Track Ranking, which determines a majority of Olympic quota spaces for Tokyo next summer. Individual pursuit world record holder Ashton Lambie is expected to lead the Americans in Glasgow.

Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA presents television coverage of day three this Sunday, Nov. 10, at 2:30 p.m. ET, while OlympicChannel.com and NBC Sports Gold will present live final day coverage at 9:30 a.m. ET. Many of the world’s best short track speed skaters head to Montreal for the second stop of the World Cup short track season. The Americans are expected to be headlined by 2018 Olympians Maame Biney and Ryan Pivirotto.

PACIFIC-ASIA CURLING CHAMPIONSHIPS – SHENZEN, CHINA

LIVE COVERAGE ON OLYMPIC CHANNEL: HOME OF TEAM USA BEGINS TODAY

The 2019 Pacific-Asia Curling Championships continue this week in Shenzen, China, as the top two women’s teams and the top men’s team will automatically qualify for the 2020 World Championships. Japan won the men’s tournament last year, while South Korea’s women’s team has won this event in each of the last three years.
