U.S. Olympic Slopestyle Gold Medalist Red Gerard Scheduled to Compete in Visa Big Air in Atlanta, Georgia
World Cup Season Highlights Include Events in Atlanta, Copper Mountain & Mammoth Mountain
STAMFORD, Conn. – Oct. 30, 2019 – NBC Sports’ presentation of the 2019-20 FIS Snowboarding World Cup season continues this Saturday from Modena, Italy, as part of more than 30 hours of exclusive coverage set to air this season across NBCSN, Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA, NBCSports.com, the NBC Sports app, OlympicChannel.com and the Olympic Channel app.
This season’s U.S. team will be led by Olympic gold medalists Red Gerard and Jamie Anderson, both of whom earned slopestyle gold at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics. Gerard, who is expected to compete at the Visa Big Air on December 20, became the youngest snowboarding Olympic gold medalist in history in PyeongChang, winning slopestyle at the age of 17. Anderson will look to add to her World Cup accomplishments, where she won the slopestyle season title in 2017.
NBC Sports’ 2019-20 FIS Snowboarding World Cup schedule is highlighted by exclusive live coverage of the Land Rover U.S. Grand Prix from Copper Mountain, CO. (Dec. 12); the Visa Big Air from Atlanta, GA (Dec. 20 – 21); and the Land Rover U.S. Grand Prix from Mammoth Mountain, CA (Jan. 31 – Feb. 1). In addition, NBC Sports presents live snowboarding coverage from Secret Garden, China, on Friday, Dec. 20, and Thursday, Feb. 27. The venue will host snowboarding and freestyle skiing events at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
