NBC Sports Presents NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs Round of 12 From Talladega Sunday on NBC
STAMFORD, Conn. – Oct. 10, 2019 – NBC Sports — the home of motorsports — presents the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s season-ending Petit Le Mans from Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta this Saturday with 10 hours of live coverage beginning on NBC at 12 p.m. ET.
NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app will provide exclusive streaming coverage from 3-5:30 p.m. ET, with NBCSN carrying the race’s final five hours beginning at 5:30 p.m. ET. Flag-to-flag coverage will stream on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app.
All four classes of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship will compete in this 10-hour event on the 12-turn, 2.54-mile Road Atlanta circuit in Braselton, Ga. In the flagship DPi class, Juan Pablo Montoya, a 2-time Indy 500 champ and race winner in both NASCAR and Formula One, will look to add an IMSA title to his resume in the No. 6 Acura Team Penske entry. Montoya and co-driver Dane Cameron can clinch the DPi title outright by finishing 8th or better.
As typical in IMSA’s longer endurance races, teams will add a third driver to their roster to help share drive time. Headlining this group are multiple NTT IndyCar Series regulars, including reigning Indy 500 champ Simon Pagenaud (No. 6 Acura Team Penske DPi), 5-time series champ Scott Dixon (No. 67 Ford Chip Ganassi Racing GTLM), and 19-year-old Colton Herta (No. 25 BMW Team RLL GTLM), who won last month’s IndyCar season finale on NBC.
Coverage of the 10-hour race will feature a cast of 10 NBC Sports commentators, headlined by NBC Sports’ lead IMSA commentating team of play-by-play voice Leigh Diffey, former Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver A.J. Allmendinger (analyst), and former IMSA GT driver Calvin Fish (analyst). INDYCAR on NBC analyst and current IMSA driver Townsend Bell will be competing as a member of the No. 12 AIM Vasser Sullivan Lexus team in the GT Daytona class and will also serve as an analyst for portions of the race.
NBC Sports’ IMSA commentary team will also include INDYCAR on NBC analyst Paul Tracy. NASCAR on NBC reporters Marty Snider, Kelli Stavast and Dillon Welch will join INDYCAR on NBC reporters Kevin Lee and Jon Beekhuis in providing commentary from pit road.
