STAMFORD, Conn. – Oct. 9, 2019 – NBC Sports’ coverage of the 2019 Notre Dame Football season continues this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC, when QB Ian Book and the No. 9 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (4-1) host the USC Trojans (3-2) from Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Ind.

In what is regarded as the “greatest intersectional rivalry” in college football, Notre Dame leads the all-time series, which began in 1926, 48-37-5. The Fighting Irish have won the past two meetings, including a 49-14 victory during the Trojans’ last visit to South Bend in 2017.

NBC Sports’ Notre Dame Football commentary team of Mike Tirico (play-by-play), Doug Flutie (analyst), Kathryn Tappen (sideline reporter), and Terry McAulay (rules analyst) will call the game. NBC Sports’ Liam McHugh will host studio coverage alongside Chris Simms, who will also serve as an in-game sideline analyst.

“USC may be unranked right now, but this is a rivalry game,” said McHugh. “Part of what makes rivalries great in college football is the idea of the spoiler. Notre Dame is right there in the middle of the College Football Playoff conversation, and USC has a chance to come into Notre Dame Stadium this weekend and ruin the Fighting Irish’s playoff hopes.”

The Fighting Irish improved to 4-1 following a 52-0 home win over Bowling Green last week. Book completed 16 of 20 passes for 261 yards with five touchdowns and zero interceptions, becoming the first quarterback in school history with five touchdown passes in one half of a game. The victory marked Notre Dame’s 14th consecutive win at Notre Dame Stadium, the school’s longest streak since 1987-90, when the Fighting Irish won 19 straight at home.

USC enters the week with a 3-2 record and looks to rebound from a 28-14 loss at Washington. Earlier this season, the Trojans upset then-No. 10 Utah, 30-23.

DT Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa, whose cousin is Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa, will be featured during this week’s halftime show, providing behind-the-scenes access into his life as a student athlete preparing for the weekend’s game.
