Last Week’s Virginia-Notre Dame Game on NBC Delivers Total Audience Delivery (TAD) of 2.844 Million Viewers, Up 10% vs. 2018 Afternoon Game Average

STAMFORD, Conn. – October 2, 2019 – NBC Sports continues its coverage of the 2019 Notre Dame football season this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on NBC, when QB Ian Book and the No. 9 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (3-1) host Bowling Green (1-3) from Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Ind. It is the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

NBC Sports’ Notre Dame Football commentary team of Mike Tirico (play-by-play), Doug Flutie (analyst), Kathryn Tappen (sideline reporter), and Terry McAulay (rules analyst) will call the game. NBC Sports’ Liam McHugh will host studio coverage alongside Chris Simms, who will also serve as an in-game sideline analyst.

The Fighting Irish improved to 3-1 and moved to No. 9 in the country following a 35-20 home win over then No. 18-ranked Virginia last week. RB Tony Jones, Jr. rushed for a career-high 131 yards and three touchdowns, and the Notre Dame defense, led by DL Julian Okwara’s three sacks, had eight total sacks and forced five turnovers.

Bowling Green enters the week with a 1-3 record following a 62-20 defeat to Kent State two weeks ago.

Last weekend’s UVA-ND game on NBC averaged a Total Audience Delivery (TAD) of 2.844 million viewers, a 10% increase over last season’s afternoon game average viewership (2.588 million). It also marked NBC’s most-watched afternoon game at Notre Dame Stadium since October 13, 2018 (2.855 million viewers vs. Pittsburgh).

The star of last weekend’s win over Virginia, RB Tony Jones, Jr., will be featured during this week’s halftime, providing behind-the-scenes access into his life as a student athlete preparing for the weekend’s game.
