On Morgan Pressel/MarinaAlex halving their match with Carlota Ciganda and Bronte Law

Karen Stupples – “Marina Alex with a pep in her step can be dangerous on this golf course.”

Morgan Pressel and Marina Alex speaking with GOLF Channel’s Jim Gallagher Jr. following their match

Marina Alex – “It was incredible. This grandstand was electric and it was really great. There is a lot of USA represented out here which is awesome. The fans have been cheering so hard on both ends of it so it has been fun.”

Morgan Pressel – “It was a tough match. Both sides did a little bit of everything. We had some strong and great putts to win holes. It was back and forth all day. We got off to a little bit rough start but proud of the way we hung in there for half a point.”

Pressel (on the foursomes format and getting into a rhythm) – “It is something we knew that was coming. We talked about that a little bit before this match.”

Alex – “The first seven holes, the way the course lays out, you don’t get a lot of variety. If Morgan is hitting tee balls, I’m hitting a lot of approaches. There was a lot of things that were happening consistent for both of us and then on the back nine we got into a little bit more of a flow and actually alternating which helped us.”

On Celine Boutier/Georgia Hall defeating Brittany Altomare/Lexi Thompson 2&1

Jerry Foltz – “Hall is on fire with her approach shots today.”

Foltz – “Boutier has rolled it so well today. It’s got to be a dream come true for her to be in this position and all of a sudden her mind, body and golf shots are working just like how she dreams it to be.”

Foltz – “Her [Boutier’s] putter is the reason why they won this match.”

Grant Boone – “Lexi Thompson doesn’t lose Solheim Cup matches very much. Prior to this morning, only two matches in her career.”

Foltz – “When Brittany Altomore made her long birdie putt on 16, I had never heard assistant captain Nancy Lopez scream so loudly as she did to will her players on.”

Stupples – “Out of all of the matches out there this morning, this has been the best played match. The best golf on the course this morning was played within this match.”

Stupples – “They [Hall and Boutier] really combined well. They had a great plan for this golf course and they executed it.”

Georgia Hall and Celine Boutier speaking with GOLF Channel’s Jerry Foltz following their victory

Georgia Hall – “Celine sent me a long message last night and I replied saying ‘You are an amazing player. Let’s go do this.’ We played really well today and are really happy.”

Hall – Celine is known for her great putting. And I am a little bit longer with my irons so we gelled quite well. She holed some great putts at the end and I managed to hit a few close on the front nine.

Celine Boutier – “I think our team prepped me pretty well and all of the rookies. They really told us more of the extreme stories – people throwing up before the first tee or shaking so bad that they couldn’t hit the ball, so I was expecting a little bit more extreme than that. But when I got to the tee, I felt a little bit of nerves obviously but I also tried to focus on the game and getting it out there on the fairway.”

On Jessica and Nelly Korda defeating Caroline Masson/Jodi Ewart Shadoff 6&4

Stupples – They put the hammer down right from the word go.”

Stupples – They are proving Juli right that they are meant to be out there together.”

Tom Abbott – “The first sisters to pair up together in a match in the Solheim Cup and they are proving to be a formidable duo.”

Jessica and Nelly Korda speaking with GOLF Channel’s Lisa Cornwell following their victory

Jessica Korda (on the match) – “It was awesome. We had fun already starting on the driving range actually. So we were really relaxed. Just had a great time and obviously playing together is the tip of the top.”

Nelly (on playing in the Solheim Cup with her sister) – “I have been really excited. That was a goal that I set in my mind. Finally leading up to this moment on the first tee was so fun. We had such a good day. It was really lighthearted and a lot of fun.”

On Charley Hull/Azahara Munoz defeating Megan Khang/Annie Park 2&1

Stupples – “I think she [Juli Inkster] had a great deal of confidence in these two. She knows how well they get along together and she felt like this is the best combination to put out there this morning just to get them loose, get them in there and see what they’ve got.”

Charley Hull and Azahara Munoz speaking with GOLF Channel’s Lisa Cornwell following their victory

Charley Hull – The front nine was actually playing really long. I had a couple of 4-irons and rescue clubs in, and we don’t usually have that in match play. On the back nine we had a few short irons in. We warmed up a bit as well and the weather got warmer so our bones were moving and we were able to get it a little bit closer.

Azahara Munoz – “It’s amazing. There is nothing like Solheim. It is such a cool experience. This is our fourth Solheim but it still gets your blood running when you hear the fans. It is such a good experience.”
