STAMFORD, Conn. – September 5, 2019 – Current 200m world leader and U.S. champion Noah Lyles, current 400m world leader Michael Norman, and Olympic 1500m bronze medalist Jenny Simpson headline comprehensive Track & Field programming across NBC Sports this week.

The IAAF Diamond League track and field season concludes this weekend with the second leg of the two-stop Diamond League Finals in Brussels, Belgium. Lyles, who has the world’s fastest time in 2019 in the 200m, won the 2019 Diamond League title in the 100m last week. This weekend, he can become the first man to win the Diamond League title in both distances if he wins the 200m. Norman, who holds the world’s fastest time in 2019 in the 400m, will also compete this weekend, as well as Keni Harrison, 2016 Diamond League champion and world record holder in the women’s 100m hurdles.

In addition, Jenny Simpson will compete for an unprecedented eighth win (and seventh straight) at the 5th Avenue Mile in New York City this weekend. In 2017, Simpson set the event record with a time of 4:16.60. The men’s race will likely be highlighted by New Zealand’s two-time Olympic medalist Nick Willis, who aims for a record fifth title.

Following this weekend’s extensive track and field programming, NBCSN presents coverage of “The Match: USA vs. Europe Track and Field” on Monday, Sept. 9 and Tuesday, Sept. 10 at Noon ET. The two-day track meet in Minsk, Belarus showcases some of the top U.S. athletes as against top European athletes.

WORLD PARA SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS – LONDON, ENGLAND

Approximately 600 swimmers from 60 nations will compete for medals at the World Para Swimming Championships in London next week, in the same venue used for the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics. Four-time Paralympian and 13-time Paralympic gold medalist Jessica Long is expected to headline the Americans. McKenzie Coan, Sophia Herzog, Becca Meyers, Colleen Young, Robert Griswold and Lawrence Sapp will all look to defend world titles in their respective events as well.

BEACH VOLLEYBALL WORLD TOUR FINALS – ROME, ITALY

LIVE COVERAGE BEGINS SATURDAY, SEPT. 7 AT 6 A.M. ET ON OLYMPIC CHANNEL: HOME OF TEAM USA

The Beach Volleyball World Tour concludes this weekend with the World Tour Finals in Rome, Italy. Two-time Olympic medalist April Ross and her partner Alix Klineman, who together have won three FIVB tournaments this season, are expected to headline for the Americans. Three-time Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings is also expected to compete alongside Brooke Sweat. Walsh Jennings and Sweat recently earned their fifth FIVB podium finish of the season when they placed third in Moscow in August. 2008 Olympic gold medalist Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena are expected to headline the men in Rome.

VUELTA A ESPAÑA

COVERAGE CONTINUES TOMORROW AT 9 A.M. ET ON NBC SPORTS GOLD

NBC Sports’ coverage of the Vuelta a España continues this week. The final Grand Tour of 2019 – after the Giro d’Italia and Tour de France – the Vuelta consists of 21 stages and covers more than 2,000 miles through Spain. The race began in 1935, and has been held annually since 1955, passing through the Spain’s mountain ranges and finishing in Madrid (this year’s course also crosses into France). Heading into tomorrow’s stage 13 competition, Slovenia’s Primož Roglič (Team Jumbo-Visma) leads the field, followed by 2009 Vuelta winner Alejandro Valverde of Spain (Movistar Team).

FREESTYLE SKIING WORLD CUP – CARDRONA, NEW ZEALAND

TV COVERAGE BEGINS TOMORROW, FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6 AT 7 P.M. ET ON OLYMPIC CHANNEL: HOME OF TEAM USA

The freestyle skiing World Cup season begins in Cardrona, New Zealand, this weekend with a halfpipe competition. Two-time Olympian and two-time world champion Aaron Blunck is expected to headline the American team.

ARCHERY WORLD CUP FINAL – MOSCOW, RUSSIA

OLYMPIC CHANNEL: HOME OF TEAM USA PRESENTS COVERAGE BEGINNING TOMORROW, FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6 AT 5 P.M. ET

The archery season concludes this weekend at the World Cup Final in Moscow. Thirty-two archers will compete, including eight from each of the four categories (men’s and women’s compound, men’s and women’s recurve). Athletes will compete head-to-head until a World Cup champion is named. Four-time World Cup champion Brady Ellison, who won his first individual world title this year and two World Cup stops this season, is expected to lead the Americans. He will aim to become the first archer to win five World Cup titles.
