PLL Names Nominees for Inaugural End-of-Season Awards

STAMFORD, Conn. – September 4, 2019 – NBC Sports Group’s exclusive coverage of the Premier Lacrosse League’s inaugural postseason begins this weekend, with three games at MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus, Oh., on NBCSN and NBC Sports Gold’sPremier Lacrosse League Pass”.

Connor Fields and the top-ranked Chaos LC will take on Matt Rambo and the two-seed Whipsnakes LC on Saturday night at 6 p.m. on NBCSN. The winner of Saturday evening’s game will automatically secure a bye the following week, and advance to the Championship Game at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester, Penn., on September 21. Tom Schreiber and #3 Archers will face Matt Kavanagh and #4 Redwoods on Friday night at 7 p.m. ET for a shot at continuing their Quest for the Crown. Postseason coverage continues Saturday at 3 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Gold, with #5 Atlas vs. #6 Chrome, who will compete for a shot at next year’s first PLL draft pick.

NBC Sports’ Paul Burmeister will host this weekend’s postseason coverage on NBCSN and NBC Sports Gold, while Brendan Burke (play-by-play) and Ryan Boyle (PLL analyst) will call the games from Columbus’ MAPFRE Stadium. For Friday night’s broadcast on NBCSN, Archers LC’s Will Manny as well as Ryder Garnsey and Eddy Glazener of Redwoods LC will be mic’d up for under-the-helmet interviews. Connor Fields and Jarrod Neumann of Chaos LC, as well as Whipsnakes LC’s Matt Rambo will be mic’d up for Saturday evening’s broadcast on NBCSN.

POSTSEASON BREAKDOWN

All six PLL teams will be involved in the postseason. In the Battle for the Crown, the teams ranked No. 1 (Chaos LC) and No. 2 (Whipsnakes LC) at the end of the regular season will now have a shot at vying for the Championship. The teams ranked No. 5 (Atlas LC) and No. 6 (Chrome LC) will have a shot at vying for the first overall pick in next year’s draft.

For teams ranked No. 3 (Archers LC) and No. 4 (Redwoods LC), they will either move on to the Championship Bracket, or the 1st Draft Pick Bracket.

The PLL postseason will stretch across three weekends — Sept. 6-7 in Columbus, Oh.; Sept. 14 in New York; and the Championship on Sept. 21 in Philadelphia. The Championship game will air 2:30 p.m. on NBC.

PLL NAMES NOMINEES FOR INAUGURAL END-OF-SEASON AWARDS

The PLL announced this week the finalists for each of the league’s 14 inaugural awards. The nominees were voted upon by the players and coaches, and the final winners will be selected by the Lacrosse Advisory Board, media and PLL front office. The award winners will be announced the night of September 19th at a formal ceremony in Philadelphia, Penn., prior to Championship Weekend.
