NBC Sports’ and NASCAR’s #MyTrackMyRoots Grassroots Racing Tour Continues

STAMFORD, Conn.July 30, 2019 –NBC Sports presents the Go Bowling at The Glen in Watkins Glen, NY. NBCSN will present live “Radio Style” coverage of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series for the second week in a row from Watkins Glen International this Sunday, August 4th, at 3 p.m. ET on NBCSN. NBC Sports will air trackside coverage starting Friday at 12:30 p.m., including Xfinity Series racing from Watkins Glen this Saturday, August 3rd, at 3 p.m. ET on NBC.

NBC Sports will again present the race in a “Radio Style” broadcasts.  With announcers positioned from vantage points around the track, the assignments for Watkins Glen will be:

  • Main broadcast booth – Lead race announcer Rick Allen and Daytona 500 winning crew chief Steve Letarte
  • “The Esses” – Veteran MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio announcer Mike Bagley
  • “The Inner Loop” and “The Carousel” – Racing legend and two-time Daytona 500 Champion Dale Earnhardt Jr.
  • Turn 6 – 21-time Cup Series race winner Jeff Burton

This unique and original style will also be presented in the Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, September 8.

Serving in their customary race day roles, NASCAR on NBC pit reporters Marty Snider, Kelli Stavast, Dave Burns, and Dillon Welch will contribute coverage from pit road alongside features reporter Rutledge Wood.

NASCAR on NBC pre-race host Krista Voda, auto racing icon Kyle Petty, and Hall of Fame driver Dale Jarrett host NASCAR America as well as all pre- and post-race coverage from Watkins Glen.

Last weekend at Pocono, Denny Hamlin earned redemption from his second-place finish in New Hampshire taking the checkered flag with a nail-biter overtime finish for his third win this season and fifth career victory at the “Tricky Triangle.”

Entering Sunday’s Cup Series race, Joey Logano, driver of the No. 22 Ford Mustang for Team Penske, continues to lead the regular season standings with 824 points and 2 wins, followed by Kyle Busch (818 points, 4 wins), Kevin Harvick (739 points, 1 win), Denny Hamlin (722 points, 3 wins) and Martin Truex Jr. (701 points, 4 wins). Chase Elliott earned his inaugural Cup Series win at Watkins Glen last season.

NASCAR CUP SERIES RACING FROM WATKINS GLEN – SUNDAY AT 2:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN PRESENTED IN RADIO STYLE COVERAGE

Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series coverage begins Saturday at 10:30 a.m. ET with the first practice on NBCSN, followed by final practice at 1 p.m. ET and qualifying at 6:30 p.m. Coverage of race-day begins at 1 p.m. ET with NASCAR America, followed at 2:30 p.m. ET by Countdown to Green on NBCSN, leading into live coverage of the Go Bowling at The Glen at 3 p.m. ET. NBCSN will present a half-hour post-race show at 5:30 p.m. ET.

XFINITY SERIES RACING FROM WATKINS GLEN – SATURDAY AT 3:30 P.M. ET ON NBC

NBC Sports’ Xfinity Series coverage from Watkins Glen will be streaming on Friday on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app, with the first practice at 12:30 p.m. ET followed by coverage of the final practice 2 p.m. ET.

Qualifying will take will air on Saturday on NBCSN at 11:30 a.m. ET. Race coverage shifts over to NBC for the Zippo 200 at The Glen at 3 p.m. ET. The “big three” of Christopher Bell, Cole Custer and reigning series champion Tyler Reddick continue their battle for regular season supremacy and valuable Playoff points. Reddick currently leads the series in points going into this weekend’s race. Chase Briscoe won last weekend’s Xfinity race in Iowa, his first victory of 2019.

Two-time Xfinity Series Champion and current Cup Series driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will appear on Wednesday’s episode of NASCAR America Motormouths at 5 p.m. ET on NBCSN. Stenhouse Jr. will join Marty Snider and Kyle Petty to answer questions from fans who call in at 1-844-NASCARNBC. Stenhouse will also discuss his early days racing at his home track, Riverside International Speedway, in West Memphis, Arkansas, which is one of the featured tracks on the Grassroots Racing Tour.

Motormouths are all about the viewers, providing regular opportunities for fans to call in to NASCAR America and speak with hosts, analysts, and a rotation of current drivers live on NBCSN.

JACKPOT FOR “NASCAR PICK ‘EM” FREE-TO-PLAY GAME ON NBC SPORTS PREDICTOR APP INCREASES TO $20,000 FOR WATKINS GLEN

The jackpot for NBC Sports’ NASCAR Pick ‘Em game has increased to $20,000 for this weekend’s race at Watkins Glen after since there were no perfect scores at Pocono.

Fans can win upwards of $10,000 by making the right picks for each week’s NASCAR Cup Series race in NBC Sports’ free-to-play NASCAR Pick ’Em game which launched earlier this year.

  • For each race stage, pick the driver that will have the best finish from a group of four drivers.
  • Then, out of the entire field, pick which drivers will finish the race in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place – in exact order.

NBC Sports and NASCAR have partnered to launch the #MyTrackMyRoots Grassroots Racing Tour – a grassroots initiative which celebrates and promotes local tracks across America that have launched the dreams and careers of NASCAR drivers and continue to cultivate a passion for racing in their local communities.

Current and former drivers from the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, Xfinity Series, and Gander Outdoor Truck Series will join with NBC Sports and NASCAR to spearhead a nationwide initiative to visit and promote more than 500 local tracks across the country over the next four months.
