Julian Alaphilippe (Deceuninck – Quick-Step) will wear the yellow jersey for a 12th day on Wednesday, the most by a Frenchman in a single Tour de France since 1985. Three riders are within two minutes of Alaphilippe after Stage 16, including defending Tour winner Geraint Thomas (Team Ineos).  In addition, Peter Sagan (Bora–Hansgrohe) is potentially five stages away from claiming his Tour de France-record seventh green jersey, and he currently holds an 85-point lead in that race.

Tonight’s Tour Primetime will re-visit Geraint Thomas’ crash earlier today and feature an interview with Egan Bernal (Team Ineos), Thomas’ teammate, who will share updates on Thomas’ condition. NBC Sports will also take a closer look at Jakob Fuglsang’s (Astana Pro Team) crash and explore what his abandonment means for his teammates. Alaphilippe will also join the show to discuss today’s race and preview the final week ahead. In addition, tonight’s Tour Primetime will feature 2012 Tour de France winner Sir Bradley Wiggins, who discusses what Team Ineos needs to do to come back and win the race.
