STAMFORD, Conn. – June 26, 2019 – U.S. track and field Olympian and the world’s fastest man in 2019 Christian Coleman competes at the Prefontaine Classic at Stanford University this Sunday, June 30, at 4 p.m. ET on NBC, highlighting Olympic sports programming this week across NBC Sports. All Olympic sports coverage televised and streamed across NBC Sports platforms is presented by Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA.

Coleman set the 2019 world-leading time of 9.85 seconds in the men’s 100m two weeks ago at the Diamond League event in Norway. He now owns the world’s best time in the event for the third year in a row and is looking to become the new fastest man on Earth following the retirement of Usain Bolt. He is expected to lead the American team at Stanford this weekend. Americans Justin Gatlin and Michael Rodgers will also be competing against Coleman in the 100m this weekend. Gatlin won Olympic gold in the 100m at the 2004 Athens Games, while Rodgers is a two-time 100m national champion.

Also expected to compete this weekend are current 200m and 400m world-leader Michael Norman in the men’s 400m, Olympic bronze medalist Emma Coburn in the women’s 3000m steeplechase, and Olympic gold medalist Ryan Crouser in men’s shot put.

The Prefontaine Classic is typically held at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon, but the complex is currently undergoing renovations for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials and the 2021 World Championships.
