THE MATCHUPS

Following the first three weeks of play, the PLL has seen five overtime contests in nine games. All four NBC Sports Gold games this season have gone into overtime. Additionally, seven of the nine games have been decided by one point. Tom Schreiber of Archers LC leads the league in points with 15, while Chaos LC’s Connor Fields leads goal scorers with eight.

The action continues this weekend in Baltimore with the following matchups:

CHROME LC (0-3) VS. REDWOODS LC (1-2) – Sat., June 22, at 1 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Gold

Chrome LC looks to get its first win of the season this weekend following a one-goal loss to Atlas LC, 13-12, in Week 3. Romar Dennis headlined the first quarter with a two-point goal to give his team a much-needed boost. Goals from standouts Justin Guterding and Jordan MacIntosh made sure the game went down to the wire, but Chrome was defeated in a heartbreaking fashion for the third week in a row as Atlas netted a goal with 48 seconds left to get the win.

The Redwoods were handed their second loss of the season last weekend by Chaos LC, 12-11. Redwoods LC took a quick 3-0 lead early in the game led by a two-pointer from Sergio Salcido. Former Notre Dame standout Ryder Garnsey notched his first-career goal to take the lead for the Redwoods in the fourth quarter, but Chaos tied the game to send it to overtime. Ultimately, it was Chaos LC who put the ball in the back of the net to get the OT win.

WHIPSNAKES LC (3-0) VS. ATLAS LC (1-2)
– Sat., June 22, at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Gold

After a win against Archers LC in Week 3, Whipsnakes LC remains the only undefeated team left in the league, with a record of 3-0. The Whips came out early in the game with a 4-0 lead led by Mike Chanenchuk, who netted a quick goal followed by a two-pointer. The Archers came out hot in the second quarter with a six-goal run to take the lead, but the Whipsnakes tied the game back up in the fourth quarter thanks to a goal from Connor Kelly and a crucial two-pointer from Ryan Drenner. The game headed into OT at 10 apiece, but Drenner scored the game-winner for the second straight week to keep his team at a perfect record.

Atlas LC took home its first win of the season last weekend against Chrome LC, improving its record to 1-2 on the season. This matchup started with the story between both team’s face-off specialists, and Atlas LC’s Trevor Baptiste showed up big, going 17-26 on face-offs. The Atlas victory was headlined by Connor Buczek’s standout performance with four goals to secure his team’s first win of the season.

ARCHERS LC (2-1) VS. CHAOS LC (2-1) – Sun., June 23, at 3:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN

Archers LC lost their first game of the season in a battle of the undefeated in Week 3 against Whipsnakes LC. After a slow start offensively, the Archers went on a six-goal run and took the lead in the second quarter. After a back-and-forth last quarter, the game headed to overtime where the Whipsnakes handed the Archers their first loss of the season.

Chaos LC hopes to build on its Week 3 success this weekend in Baltimore after beating Redwoods LC, 12-11. Chaos responded to a 3-0 deficit and put in two quick goals before Connor Fields buried his first of four to tie the game. After exchanging goals for the rest of the game, it was another overtime game in Week 3, with the score tied at 11-11. Both teams came up empty on their first two possessions in OT, but it was Josh Byrne of Chaos LC who netted the game-winner to help his team improve to 2-1 on the season.
