On the quarterfinals match play
Curt Byrum – “If there are still holes to play, you keep battling. Never give up in match play.”
Byrum – “Golf is a funny game, especially when you are in match play.”
Bob Papa – “What a show put on by these student athletes throughout the course of this week and through this morning, as the scene shifted to match play and the pressure that came along with it.”

Vanderbilt defeats Texas A&M 3-2

On Vanderbilt’s Will Gordon defeating Texas A&M’s Dan Erickson in 19 holes to advance Vanderbilt to the semifinals
Chantel McCabe – “This match was a perfect example that anything can happen in match play.”
Burkowski – “He [Head Coach Scott Limbaugh] is emotional and passionate about this team. He knows they might have gotten away with one, but they are still around.”
Byrum – “He is talking to his team less about strategy and more about, ‘Hey, we are moving to where we want to be this afternoon.’”

Vanderbilt’s Will Gordon and head coach Scott Limbaugh speaking with GOLF Channel’s Chantel McCabe following their victory
Will Gordon – “I did that [hit right on 1] in stroke play once. I just keep hitting in woods for some reason. Chipped it out and knew that I could get up and down.”
Scott Limbaugh (on advancing to semifinals) – “It is very special. You try not to have any doubts in these moments in how you do this. I told my wife last night, ‘We might go down, but I’m going to go down with my SEC Player of the Year bringing us home. The guy has done it a bunch of times and I couldn’t be prouder of him.”

Stanford defeats Wake Forest 3-2
Steve Burkowski – “In just under an hour, Isaiah Salinda completely flipped his match, which could deliver some needed momentum for Stanford.”
Byrum – “Stanford had so much momentum heading into the NCAA’s, they won their previous four tournaments heading into this week.”
Notah Begay – “I’ve never seen a turnaround like this. Salinda makes the turn four holes down and goes on to win six consecutive holes. It is one of the more remarkable things I’ve ever seen.”
Byrum – “A lot of momentum with Stanford right now. With that match-winning putt and Salinda’s turnaround to win his match.”

Stanford’s David Snyder and head coach Conrad Ray speaking with GOLF Channel’s Chantel McCabe following her match
David Snyder – “I just trusted what I’ve been doing all spring and fed off of our guys. Just wanted to make the putt for them. It was awesome.”
Conrad Ray – “We are trying to conserve energy. This is a beast to walk twice so we’ve got to get regrouped. Really proud of our guys. They really hung in there. They were down most of the day. That back nine they really turned it around. Hats off to Wake. They’ve got a heck of a team and they really played great. Just excited to be playing this afternoon.”
Ray – “I was really impressed. Sometimes it just takes one putt to drop. He made a long putt on 10 and didn’t look back. Eugenio, his competitor, is a great young player and is going to do great things in the game. Isaiah had that look in his eye on the back nine. It was fun to see a few putts go in and see some great shots.”

Oklahoma State defeats SMU 4-1
Bob Papa – “Is there anything Matt Wolff can’t do?”

Texas defeats Oklahoma 3-2
Burkowski – “Cole Hammer made a statement early, never let Welch come up for air.”

Texas’ Parker Coody and head coach John Fields speaking with GOLF Channel’s Chantel McCabe
Parker Coody – “It wasn’t as bad as people think as a freshman. Steven is a great senior, he knew exactly what to do as did Coach Fields and JP. JP was by my side all day so he was a great help.”
John Fields – “So thankful to get through this round. Oklahoma is a fabulous team with great coaches. They won a national championship recently so this was awesome. Now we’ve got to get ready for Oklahoma State.”
Fields – “I think we have been looking forward this all year along. There is no question they are a fabulous team. Great coaches with Donnie Darr and Alan Bratton. Great players, including Matthew Wolff and Viktor Hovland. Our guys will have to bring everything we’ve got. And we’re going to do that. And we have a lot of enthusiasm on our side.”
