STAMFORD, Conn. – May 2, 2019 – NBC Sports continues its exclusive coverage of the Second Round of the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs tonight on NBCSN with a doubleheader beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET, as Brad Marchand and the Boston Bruins look to avoid a two-game series deficit in Game 4 tonight against Matt Duchene and the Columbus Blue Jackets. Six-time Emmy Award winner Mike “Doc” Emrick (play-by-play), Mike Milbury (analyst), and Brian Boucher (‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst) will have the call from Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

Coverage shifts west at 10 p.m. ET on NBCSN, as Nathan MacKinnon and the Colorado Avalanche look to even the series at two games apiece with a Game 4 win against Logan Couture and the San Jose Sharks. Chris Cuthbert (play-by-play), Joe Micheletti (analyst), and Pierre McGuire (‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst) will have the call from Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.

Pre-game coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN with NHL Live.

BOSTON BRUINS AT COLUMBUS BLUE JACKETS – GAME 4 AT 7:30 P.M. ET TONIGHT ON NBCSN – COLUMBUS LEADS SERIES 2-1

The Blue Jackets defeated the Bruins 2-1 in Game 3 on Tuesday night to take the series lead in their first-ever home Second Round game. This marks Columbus’ second-straight victory, behind 36 saves from Sergei Bobrovsky – 15 of which came in the third period – and another game-winning power play goal from Matt Duchene. Boone Jenner also contributed a goal for the Blue Jackets in the victory. The series stays in Columbus tonight for Game 4, where the Blue Jackets are 3-0 in the postseason.

 

SAN JOSE SHARKS AT COLORADO AVALANCHE – GAME 4 TONIGHT AT 10 P.M. ET ON NBCSN – SAN JOSE LEADS SERIES 2-1

San Jose took the series lead with a 4-2 Game 3 victory over Colorado on Tuesday night. Logan Couture had his first Stanley Cup Playoffs hat trick in the victory, and leads the NHL with nine goals in the playoffs. Teammate Timo Meier had a goal and two assists in the effort, and goalie Martin Jones made 25 stops against the Avalanche. The series continues tonight in Denver, where the Avalanche had won eight straight games until their loss to the Sharks Tuesday night.

CAROLINA, COLUMBUS AND DENVER SET LOCAL RATINGS RECORDS

Carolina, Columbus and Denver continue to set local ratings records. For last night’s Islanders-Hurricanes Game 3, Raleigh delivered a 7.7 rating, NBC Sports’ best rating for a Second Round game on record in the market.

For Tuesday night’s Bruins-Blue Jackets Game 3, Columbus delivered a 13.2 local rating, NBC Sports’ highest-ever rating for an NHL game in the market. Denver scored a 7.8 rating for Sharks-Avalanche Game 3 on Tuesday night, also NBC Sports’ highest-ever rating for an NHL game in the market.

The 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs continue to be the most-watched in seven years. Through Tuesday night (56 games) across the networks of NBCUniversal, Playoffs to date have averaged a Total Audience Delivery of 923,000 viewers, up versus 2018 at the same point of the playoffs (912,000). Cable games are averaging a TAD of 774,000 viewers for the Second Round through six days to rank as the best cable delivery through that time period on record (since 1994).
