IMSA LEGEND HURLEY HAYWOOD JOINS NASCAR ON NBC, HIGHLIGHTING NBC SPORTS’ NEW PODCAST EPISODES THIS WEEK

NBC Sports’ Kathryn Tappen Previews Stanley Cup Playoffs on Chris Simms Unbuttoned

STAMFORD, Conn. – April 11, 2019 – NBC Sports debuts new episodes of several podcasts this week featuring special guests and athletes, including motorsports legend Hurley Haywood, INDYCAR driver Sebastien Bourdais ahead of this Sunday’s Long Beach Grand Prix, and NBC Sports’ Kathryn Tappen to preview the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Among the events and topics covered on this week’s podcasts are:

  • NBC Sports Group’s comprehensive coverage of the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs, continuing tonight with three games across NBCSN and USA Network. Pre-game coverage begins at 6 p.m. ET on NBCSN.
  • NBCSN’s coverage of the Long Beach Grand Prix, beginning on Sunday, April 14 at 4:30 p.m. ET.

New episodes of 15 podcasts will be available for download on all major podcast platforms including: NBC Sports’ Scores App, Apple, Stitcher, Spotify, Google Podcasts, TuneIn and iHeart.

NASCAR

 

  • NASCAR on NBC: Host Nate Ryan interviews NASCAR stars and insiders each week. Nate also discusses the latest NASCAR news, including a weekly recap of races, and looks ahead to what’s next in the sport.
    • On this week’s episode: IMSA legend Hurley Haywood joins NASCAR on NBC in a candid conversation about his decision to come out last year. Haywood discusses why he felt comfortable with the decision now, why he kept his sexuality hidden while racing and whether he thinks other active drivers could do the same. Also joining the podcast is INDYCAR driver Sebastien Bourdais, who has three victories at the marquee Long Beach Grand Prix, the site of Sunday’s race. Bourdais discusses his controversial and remarkable three-wide pass at Long Beach last year that was declared illegal and talks about racing the 24 Hours of Le Mans in his hometown.
