NBC Sports “Push For The Playoffs” Adds Avalanche-Blues and Bruins-Blue Jackets Games to NBCSN Schedule for Final Week of NHL Regular Season
STAMFORD, Conn. – March 25, 2019 – NBC Sports’ “Push for the Playoffs” features six NHL games on NBC and NBCSN with potential playoff implications this week, highlighted by a Wednesday Night Hockey doubleheader beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN, when Brad Marchand and the Boston Bruins host Mika Zibanejad and the New York Rangers. Wednesday Night Hockey on NBCSN continues at 10 p.m. ET, when Mark Stone and the Vegas Golden Knights visit Nathan MacKinnon and the Colorado Avalanche.
Henrik Lundqvist and the Rangers will also visit Sean Couturier and the Philadelphia Flyers to kick off a Star Sunday Presented by AT&T doubleheader with coverage beginning at 12 p.m. ET on NBC. Star Sunday coverage shifts to NBCSN at 7:30 p.m. ET, when David Pastrnak and the Bruins visit Dylan Larkin and the Detroit Red Wings.
This week’s NHL coverage on NBCSN begins tonight at 8 p.m. ET when P.K. Subban and the Nashville Predators visit Ryan Suter and the Minnesota Wild, and continues tomorrow at 7 p.m. ET, when Sebastian Aho and the Carolina Hurricanes visit Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT HOCKEY – RANGERS-BRUINS – 7:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
Boston (46-20-9, 101 pts) clinched a playoff spot with a 7-3 win against Florida on Saturday, as David Pastrnak scored his team-leading 33rd goal of the season. The Bruins carry a four-game winning streak into a matchup tonight against the Lightning, which have already clinched the Presidents’ Trophy with 120 points with six games left in the regular season. New York (29-32-13, 71 pts) earned a 2-1 overtime win against Toronto on Saturday, as Alexandar Georgiev made 44 saves and Ryan Strome scored the game-winner for the Rangers.
Six-time Emmy Award-winner Mike ‘Doc’ Emrick (play-by-play), Mike Milbury (analyst), and Brian Boucher (‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst) will have the call from TD Garden in Boston, Mass. Pre-game coverage starts at 6:30 p.m. ET with NHL Live, hosted by Liam McHugh alongside U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame member Eddie Olczyk (analyst), Keith Jones and Bob McKenzie.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT HOCKEY – GOLDEN KNIGHTS-AVALANCHE – 10 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
Vegas (42-27-6, 90 pts) enters the week with an 8-1-1 record in its last 10 games but fell 3-2 to Detroit in overtime at home on Saturday. Mark Stone has recorded four goals and four assists in 12 games since being acquired at the trade deadline from Ottawa. The Golden Knights visit the Blues tonight.
Colorado (34-29-13, 81 pts) is currently clinging to the second Wild Card playoff spot in the Western Conference, two points ahead of Minnesota and Arizona with six games left in the regular season. The Avalanche fell 2-1 in overtime to Chicago on Sunday night on NBCSN. Nathan MacKinnon leads the club with 92 points (37g/55a).
Gord Miller (play-by-play) and Emmy Award-winner Pierre McGuire (‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst) will have the call from Pepsi Center in Denver, Colo.
STAR SUNDAY PRESENTED BY AT&T – RANGERS-FLYERS – COVERAGE BEGINS AT 12 P.M. ET ON NBC
The Flyers (36-32-8, 80 pts) continue to battle for the second Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference, entering the week eight points behind Columbus with six games left on their schedule. Philadelphia fell to Washington, 3-1, on Star Sunday on NBC this past weekend. Sean Couturier, the featured Flyer for Star Sunday, leads Philadelphia with 31 goals.
This marks the first matchup between the Rangers and Flyers since Jan. 29, a 1-0 Flyers win in New York. Henrik Lundqvist, the featured Ranger for Star Sunday, made 31 saves in his most recent appearance against Philadelphia, a 3-2 shootout loss on Dec. 23.
Kenny Albert (play-by-play), Olczyk (analyst) and McGuire (‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst) will have the call from Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pa. Liam McHugh will anchor studio coverage alongside Milbury and Jones.
STAR SUNDAY PRESENTED BY AT&T – BRUINS-RED WINGS – 7:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
Detroit (27-38-10, 64 pts) begins the week following wins in three of its last four games, including a 3-2 overtime win at Vegas on Saturday, as Anthony Mantha scored twice against the Golden Knights, including the game-winner. Dylan Larkin, the featured Red Wing for Star Sunday, leads Detroit with 63 points (27g/36a).
The Bruins and Red Wings last met on Dec. 1, when Detroit defeated Boston 4-2 at TD Garden in Boston. David Pastrnak, the featured Bruin for Star Sunday, leads Boston with 33 goals and is one of three Bruins with at least 30 goals (Marchand, 32; Bergeron, 31).
Brendan Burke (play-by-play) and Boucher (‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst) will have the call from Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Mich. Pre-game coverage starts at 6:30 p.m. ET with NHL Live, hosted by Tappen alongside Jones and Anson Carter.
PREDATORS-WILD – TONIGHT AT 8 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
Nashville (42-28-6, 90 pts) enters tonight’s game four points behind Winnipeg for the Central Division lead and two points ahead of St. Louis for second place in the division. The Predators will look to bounce back from a 5-0 loss to Winnipeg on Saturday. Ryan Johansen leads the team with 60 pts (11g/49a).
Minnesota (35-32-9, 79 pts) is tied with Arizona, two points behind Colorado for the second Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. The Wild lost to Carolina, 5-1, on Saturday. This is the third matchup between Minnesota and Nashville this month. Nashville won both games via shootout.
Chris Cuthbert (play-by-play) and Boucher (‘Inside-the-Glass’ analyst) will have the call from Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn. Pre-game coverage begins at 7 p.m. ET with NHL Live, hosted by Kathryn Tappen alongside Jones and Patrick Sharp.
HURRICANES-CAPITALS – TUESDAY AT 7 P.M. ET ON NBCSN
Carolina (42-26-7, 91 pts) enters the week in the first Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference, three points ahead of Montreal and two points behind Pittsburgh for third in the Metropolitan Division. The Hurricanes earned an important 2-1 overtime win against Montreal on Saturday, as Andrei Svechnikov scored the game-winner in the extra session.
Washington (44-24-8, 96 pts) enters the week with a slim lead over the Islanders (95 pts) atop the Metropolitan Division. The Caps beat the Flyers, 3-1, on Star Sunday on NBC, as Braden Holtby made 35 saves in the win to propel Washington to a 10-3-1 record in its last 14 games.

NBC SPORTS “PUSH FOR THE PLAYOFFS” ADDS AVALANCHE-BLUES AND BRUINS-BLUE JACKETS GAMES TO NBCSN SCHEDULE FOR FINAL WEEK OF NHL REGULAR SEASON
NBC Sports has announced that it has added a pair of games to its schedule on NBCSN for the final week of the NHL regular season. The St. Louis Blues will host the Colorado Avalanche on Monday, April 1, at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN, and the Boston Bruins will visit the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday, April 2, at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN. Additionally, NBC Sports has removed the Flames-Ducks game from NBCSN’s schedule on Wednesday, April 3. *Note – Bruins-Blue Jackets will be blacked out in the Boston market.
2018-19 REGULAR SEASON COVERAGE ON NBC & NBCSN
NBC Sports will deliver coverage of a record 109 regular-season games during the 2018-19 season, highlighted by the debut of “Wednesday Night Hockey” on NBCSN, which will showcase the network’s most diverse schedule since it acquired NHL rights prior to the 2005-06 season, as well as NHL’s current and rising stars.
