Liverpool Aim to Win First League Title in 29 Years This Season
STAMFORD, Conn. – March 12, 2019 – In the midst of Liverpool FC’s quest for their first league title in 29 years and first-ever Premier League title, NBC Sports today debuts “In the Shadow of the Kop,” an exclusive, in-depth multiplatform series highlighting Liverpool’s unique connection to its supporters, rich history, and return to form as one of England’s most dominant clubs. Roger Bennett of The Men in Blazers, who hosts the series, traveled to Liverpool to report on and chronicle the club.
Over the course of the next six weeks, NBC Sports will release two unique digital films each week across its digital platforms, including NBCSports.com, the NBC Sports app and NBC Sports’ YouTube channel. Portions of each film will air during NBC Sports’ Premier League broadcasts on NBCSN.

Available beginning tonight at 8 p.m. ET on the NBC Sports YouTube channel, the debut digital episode of “In the Shadow of the Kop” features an exclusive in-depth interview with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. Klopp joins Roger Bennett to discuss the history of Liverpool’s managers, the importance of thanking fans, the pressure of the title race, and what it means to win.
In addition, NBCSN will air three, 30-minute episodes which explore the roots of Liverpool’s rich traditions, deep ties to the local community and showcase the team’s impressive title run this season.
