2019 Six Nations Rugby Viewership on NBCSN Up 31% vs. 2018; Up 59% in P18-49 Demo

STAMFORD, Conn. – March 7, 2019 – NBC Sports continues its coverage of the 2019 Guinness Six Nations Rugby Championship this weekend with matches from Round Four of the the world’s oldest rugby championship, beginning with two matches on Saturday. Table leaders Wales will travel to Edinburgh to face Scotland at 12:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN, followed by England v. Italy at 4 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

NBCSN’s Round Four coverage continues on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. ET, when France visit Aviva Stadium in Dublin to face defending Six Nations champions Ireland.

Exclusive live coverage on NBC Sports Gold begins Saturday at 9:15 a.m. ET with Scotland v. Wales, followed by England v. Italy at 11:45 a.m. ET, and Ireland v. France on Sunday at 11 a.m. ET. The annual tournament, which has roots that date back more than a century, consists of 15 matches played in a round-robin format between six teams – England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland, and Wales.

Derek Rae (host) and Alex Corbisiero (analyst), who played for England in the Six Nations Championship, will anchor NBCSN’s studio coverage for this weekend’s matches.

2019 SIX NATIONS RUGBY VIEWERSHIP ON NBCSN UP 31% VS. 2018; UP 59% IN P-18-49 DEMO

Viewership of NBC Sports’ coverage of the 2019 Six Nations Rugby Championship on NBCSN is up 31% vs. 2018, averaging 140,000 viewers through nine telecasts. The nine matches have also delivered significant gains in the P18-49 demo, up 59% vs. the average for the demo for 2018 Six Nations matches on NBCSN.

The Round Two Scotland-Ireland match on Saturday, Feb, 9 on NBCSN averaged 183,000 viewers to rank as the network’s most-watched Six Nations match to date, while the Round Three Italy-Ireland match on Sunday, Feb. 24 on NBCSN averaged 173,000 viewers to tie as the second most-watched Six Nations telecast on the network.

SCOTLAND V. WALES– SATURDAY AT 9:15 A.M. ET ON NBC SPORTS GOLD; 12:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

Table leaders Wales hope to remain unbeaten, and have a chance at the Grand Slam title, when they travel to Edinburgh to face Scotland. In Round Three, Scotland lost 27-10 against France, but will return home to BT Murrayfield for the matchup, where they earned five points in Round One of the competition. Wales defeated Scotland 34-7, in last year’s Six Nations meeting.

ENGLAND V. ITALY– SATURDAY AT 11:45 A.M. ET ON NBC SPORTS GOLD; 4 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

Second-place England will look to rebound from their disappointing Round Three 21-13 defeat to Wales and stay in contention for the competition’s title. Italy hope to earn their first points of the competition and their first Six Nations victory in over four years. Last year, England soundly defeated Italy by a score of 46-15.

IRELAND V. FRANCE– SUNDAY AT 11 A.M. ET ON NBC SPORTS GOLD; 4:30 P.M. ET ON NBCSN

Defending champions Ireland look to win their third straight match following their hard fought 26-16 victory at Italy in Round Three. France will look to continue to climb the table and win their second consecutive match following their 27-10 home victory over Scotland. Ireland have lost just one of their last seven Six Nations matchups with the French, and the last French victory in Dublin came back in 2011. During Round One of last year’s competition, Ireland defeated France 15-13 in a tightly contested match.
