EMMY-NOMINATED GOLF CHANNEL ORIGINAL SERIES FEHERTY TO BEGIN AIRING ON SKY SPORTS GOLF

Series to Debut Wednesday on Sky Sports Golf, Featuring

Episodes with European Stars Ian Poulter and Tommy Fleetwood

ORLANDO, Fla. (Feb. 26, 2019) – NBC Sports Group and Sky Sports today announced another collaboration following Comcast’s acquisition of Sky last year. On Wednesday, Sky Sports Golf will begin airing GOLF Channel’s Emmy-nominated original series Feherty, introducing its viewers to the two-time Emmy-nominated host and his golf-enthused, culturally relevant celebrity guests from across golf, sports, entertainment and politics. The announcement follows the recent news of Sky Sports’ continued investment in golf with live coverage of all four men’s and five women’s major championships in 2019.

A native of Northern Ireland, Feherty’s interview series initially debuted in 2011, and kicked off its ninth season last night on GOLF Channel. Wednesday’s debut of the series on Sky Sports Golf will feature episodes with European golf icons Ian Poulter and Tommy Fleetwood, with plans to begin airing episodes from the current season of Feherty next month, including Fred Couples, Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau and Tony Finau.

“It’s becoming abundantly clear that the standard for what’s considered good television is universally low, regardless of the continent on which it’s being viewed,” said Feherty. “An entirely new audience of golf fans will soon discover just how full of it I am. While fortune may favor the bold, an appreciation for mediocrity favors yours truly.”

The partnership between the two networks surrounding Feherty follows this morning’s announcement that NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) will add a simulcast of Sky Sports News to its programming lineup each weekday from 11 a.m.-Noon ET, beginning this Friday, March 1. Last month, NBC Sports and Sky Sports also collaborated on their coverage of Premier League. NBCSN aired an extensive “Premier League Transfer Deadline Day Special” that included a three-hour live simulcast of Sky Sports News’ live show preceding NBCSN’s own three-hour special from its studios in Stamford, Conn. Additional opportunities for collaboration in golf are being identified as the season begins to gear up with the first marquee event of year, THE PLAYERS Championship (March 14-17).

Feherty is a former professional golfer who claimed 10 worldwide victories and a spot on the 1991 European Ryder Cup team. The Northern Irishman has made a name for himself not only through his self-titled series, but as a New York Times best-selling author, and as one of the most irrepressible personalities calling golf over the past two decades. He joined NBC Sports Group exclusively in 2015 after being part of CBS Sports’ golf broadcast team since 1997. Since joining NBC Sports, in addition to his golf contributions, Feherty has twice served as an Olympics correspondent for NBC’s coverage of the Games in Rio and PyeongChang. Feherty initially debuted in June 2011 on GOLF Channel – becoming the network’s most-watched original series ever – and celebrated the 100 episode milestone in 2017.

Described as “golf’s iconoclast,” by Rolling Stone, and “golf’s wisecracking, maverick interviewer,” by Esquire, Feherty’s long list of guests spanning nine seasons include celebrities from across entertainment, sports and politics. To date, Feherty has sat down with four U.S. Presidents (Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama and Donald Trump); American sports legends Charles Barkley, Nick Saban, Stephen Curry and Bobby Knight; entertainment icons Matthew McConaughey, Larry David and Samuel L. Jackson; World Golf of Fame members Fred Couples, Nancy Lopez, Jack Nicklaus, Annika Sorenstam, Lee Trevino and Tom Watson; and a host of current golf superstars including Paula Creamer, Jason Day, Tommy Fleetwood, Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson, Ian Poulter, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas and Michelle Wie.
