FOOTBALL MORNING IN AMERICA DETAILS PETER KING’S 4:15 A.M. RIDE TO WORK WITH LOS ANGELES RAMS HEAD COACH SEAN MCVAY

This week’s Football Morning in America column, available now exclusively on NBCSports.com, is highlighted by Peter King’s 4:15 a.m. ride with Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay to Rams practice this past Saturday.

During the ride, McVay spoke with King about how his relationship with Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has grown throughout the past year, the Rams’ win against the Saints in the NFC Championship Game, and what he learned from Redskins’ 27-10 loss to the Patriots in 2015 when he was Washington’s offensive coordinator.

This week’s edition of Football Morning in America also examines the reaction and response to the conclusion of the Saints-Rams NFC Championship Game, and “What I Learned” with Saints TE Benjamin Watson, who is retiring following a 15-year NFL career.

McVay on relationship and communicating with Belichick: “This season, he has basically texted me after every one of our games. After we beat Minnesota in September, he texted, ‘Man, you guys are really explosive and impressive and fun to watch. Congratulations—keep it rolling.’ For him to even take the time to say congrats, it’s pretty cool.”

King on potential rule changes following Saints-Rams NFC Championship Game: “With most every significant league figure in Atlanta for at least part of this week, this should be the start of an idea period. I’ll share one that I got from an active NFL coach last week, in a text. ‘Rules need to be changed for the playoffs,’ the coach wrote. ‘Coaches need to have more challenge and be able to challenge more types of calls, like P.I. It’s too important to say, ‘Well, we’ve never done that before.’ It’s the playoffs. All that matters is we get it right!’”
