STAMFORD, Conn. – December 27, 2018 – Three-time Olympic medalist Mikaela Shiffrin seeks to break her tie with retired Austrian skier Marlies Schild for the most career World Cup slalom victories by a woman this weekend in Semmering, Austria, as part of NBC Sports’ winter sports coverage.

With her slalom victory this past weekend in Courchevel, France, Shiffrin became the youngest skier to reach 50 career World Cup victories across all disciplines. Winner of the last two overall World Cup titles, Shiffrin has won her last five consecutive starts and has recorded a record-tying 14 overall wins in 2018. The 23-year-old is currently four wins shy of tying Hermann Maier (54) for the sixth-most career World Cup wins ever.

NBC will air Saturday’s women’s slalom at 5 p.m. ET as Shiffrin attempts to take sole possession of the women’s World Cup slalom wins record. Live coverage will be available on NBC Sports Gold beginning at 4:30 a.m. ET. Additionally, Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA will air live coverage of the men’s races from Bormio, Italy, beginning at 5:30 a.m. ET on Friday.

The FIS Cross-Country Skiing World Cup season continues with the 13th annual Tour de Ski, a multi-stage World Cup event modeled after cycling’s Tour de France. The Tour de Ski will span nine days across three countries beginning in Toblach, Italy. Diggins is expected to compete, along with two-time Olympian Sadie Bjornsen, who is currently the top American in the women’s World Cup standings. Sadie’s brother, Erik Bjornsen, is expected to lead the American men.

FIS SKI JUMPING WORLD CUP – OBERSTDORF, GERMANY
COVERAGE BEGINS SATURDAY AT 10:20 A.M. ET ON OLYMPICCHANNEL.COM & NBC SPORTS GOLD

The FIS Ski Jumping World Cup season continues with the Four Hills Tournament, which consists of four competitions in Germany and Austria in a cumulative point-scoring format. 2018 Olympians Kevin Bickner and Nita Englund are expected to headline the American contingent.
