Biles Aims to Bring Home First Six-Pack of Medals at a Single World Championship in Over 30 Years

STAMFORD, Conn. – October 31, 2018 – NBC Sports Group continues coverage of Simone Biles and the 2018 World Gymnastics Championships through this Sunday from Doha, Qatar. Biles and reigning world all-around champion Morgan Hurd will compete in the women’s all-around final tomorrow, Nov.1 at 9 a.m. ET, live on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA with encore coverage at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN.
Live coverage continues Friday, Nov. 2 and Saturday, Nov. 3 at 9 a.m. ET with men’s and women’s apparatus finals on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA.
NBCSN will present encore coverage of the apparatus finals both nights at 10 p.m. ET. NBC will present a three-hour highlight show this Sunday, Nov. 4, at 3 p.m. ET.

Team USA won the World Championships on Tuesday by the largest margin in the 12-year history of the current scoring system, as Biles, Hurd, Riley McCusker, Grace McCallum and Kara Eaker combined for 171.629 points and an 8.766 point margin over second-place Russia. The United States has now won six consecutive Olympic or world titles. By placing in the top three, the U.S. women’s team officially qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Dealing with a kidney stone, Biles has led the U.S. women. She qualified first for the beam, floor, vault and individual all-around finals and with the second-best score for the uneven bars final. She now has an opportunity to earn up to five more medals at this year’s World Championships, which would bring her to 20 in her career and tied for the most by a woman at a World Championships with Russia’s Svetlana Khorkina.
Biles will compete in the individual finals this week alongside teammates Hurd and Eaker. On Friday and Saturday, she aims to become the first woman to earn six medals at a single World Championship since Soviet gymnast Yelena Shushunova in 1987.
