Olympic Gold Medalist John Shuster Skips Men’s Rink; Olympians Matt & Becca Hamilton Represent Team USA in Mixed Doubles; Olympian Nina Roth Skips Team USA Women

“Friday Night is Curling Night” – Curling Night in America Episodes to Air on Friday Nights Throughout the Fall on NBCSN, Beginning This Friday at 8 p.m. ET

Nine-Episode Television Event Features Teams from United States, China, Japan and Italy in Men’s, Women’s and Mixed Doubles Competitions

STAMFORD, Conn. – October 11, 2018 – Coming off the excitement of Team USA’s dramatic gold medal victory in men’s curling at the 2018 PyeongChang Olympics, Curling Night in America returns for a fifth consecutive season this fall on NBCSN, highlighted by a Team USA contingent featuring Olympic gold medalist John Shuster and famed curling siblings Becca Hamilton and Matt Hamilton. Coverage begins this Friday, October 12, at 8 p.m. ET on NBCSN, when Shuster leads Team USA against Italy in the men’s division.

Curling Night in America features Team USA, as well as China, Japan, and Italy, and includes one men’s, women’s and mixed doubles team from each nation competing in round-robin tournaments. A points system will be used to determine a winner in each division (men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles), as well as an overall champion. “Friday Night is Curling Night” this fall on NBCSN, as all premiere telecasts for the 2018 Curling Night in America season will air on Friday nights.

Following are the teams representing Team USA in the fifth season of Curling Night in America:

  • Men: John Shuster, Chris Plys, Matt Hamilton, John Landsteiner, Kroy Nernberger
  • Women: Nina Roth, Tabitha Peterson, Becca Hamilton, Aileen Geving, Tara Peterson
  • Mixed doubles: Becca Hamilton, Matt Hamilton

The Team USA men’s rink features three of the five players on the Olympic gold-winning team in PyeongChang earlier this year. The Team USA women’s rink features four of the five members that finished in eighth place in PyeongChang, including skip Nina Roth. The sibling team of Becca Hamilton and Matt Hamilton will represent Team USA in the mixed doubles competition for Curling Night in America following their sixth-place finish in PyeongChang.

Last season, Team USA went 14-4 across all competitions to win the American Cup for the second consecutive year on Curling Night in America, led by an undefeated performance by the Hamilton siblings in the mixed doubles division.

Jason Knapp (play-by-play), 2006 Olympic bronze medalist Pete Fenson (analyst), and Tanith White (reporter) will provide commentary for all Curling Night in America telecasts. The event was held at the Chaska Curling Center in Chaska, Minn., from Aug. 27-29.
