On Korea winning the UL International Crown

Karen Stupples – “It has taken them a couple of tries with being favorites. Not being able to get the job done. Then they come here to their home in South Korea, in front of their home crowd and their fans. They are the champions.”

Tom Abbott – “It is a dream scenario for Korea. The home team winning the Crown and especially when it is the Republic of Korea, a nation that loves women’s golf. They absolutely adore these players.”

Stupples – “They knew what they needed to get done and they really embraced the fact that this was a home game for them. It goes to show you how a home crowd and a home advantage can really make a big difference.”

Stupples – “They played really excellent golf. That is what it takes.”

Jerry Foltz – “What a scene on the 18th hole. The final match coming down to the final hole. Thousands and thousands of people gathered around this hole. Doesn’t often happen like this in international team competition. What a great site to see.”

Team Korea speaking with Golf Channel’s Jerry Foltz following their victory

So Yeon Ryu – “We really feel nervous before majors but we have been nervous for a couple of months to prepare for this tournament. We actually worried about it because we worried about how to deal with this pressure. Turns out because this was home field, we felt more comfortable. Because so many fans came out supporting us, we had a lot of benefit.

IK Kim – “We just wanted to have fun and I wanted us to have fun today because there were so many fans out here supporting us. I just had to keep telling myself to focus, focus on every shot because I couldn’t focus. I had a blast. Thanks to everyone for giving us such a great match.”

Sung Hyun Park – “I think not only myself but all of my teammates felt a lot of pressure coming in to this event. I’m just really happy that we overcame it and we came out victorious.

In Gee Chun – “I want to say I love them and thank you to them. Without them I wouldn’t have been able to play very well this week. I was so nervous before the start this week. They helped me a lot, and I really appreciate it.”

Ryu – “I am so fortunate to be Korean. I love to see all of the Korean golf fans just love golf so much. Without their support we could not have had this nice tournament here. Just cannot thank them enough.”

On USA’s Lexi Thompson

Karen Stupples – “Sometimes she ought to hang out with Cristie Kerr just a little bit more because it seems to me that every time she gets paired with Cristie at a team event that confidence that she gains from her seems to carry through into other tournaments too. Watching how Cristie is around the golf course, being able to see how confident she is with herself reminds Lexi what she could actually be with her own self as well.”

On England’s Georgia Hall

Kay Cockerill – “I am really impressed with Georgia Hall. She has the entire package. We saw that when she won the Women’s British Open. She is a touch of class. She easily forgets mistakes and on to the next hole. Doesn’t dwell on anything for too long good or bad.

On Sweden’s Anna Nordqvist

Karen Stupples – “She is very good with her distance control, good with her wedges. She is a master tactician.”

Criste Kerr speaking with Golf Channel’s Jerry Foltz

Cristie Kerr – “It is a fantastic golf course. The fans got what they wanted today with a beautiful day of weather. It wasn’t in our favor this time but we played with heart and soul. Michelle was a little bit hurt and she put up a good performance. You know, sometimes it just doesn’t go your way.”

Kerr – “What really impressed me is that they looked like they [Team Korea] enjoyed themselves and really embraced the fans and they didn’t put the extra pressure on themselves that I thought they would.”
