Karen Stupples – “You are always going to know what’s going on with this match with Cristie and Lexi.”

Stupples – “They [Kerr and Thompson] have never lost a Solheim Cup match together. They are a formidable duo. They spar well and it seems to work”

Jerry Foltz – “Cristie Kerr reads putts better than any human being I know.”

Foltz – “Our colleague and Hall-of-Famer Judy Rankin says it all of the time about Cristie, that she is just blessed with a gift in reading the greens. You can’t teach anybody about reading greens. It is just instinct.”

Stupples – “She [Thompson] draws from Cristie’s confidence. Cristie brings her along and vice versa, too. Cristie loves playing with Lexi because when Lexi is playing well, she is really hard to beat.”

Foltz – “There hasn’t been a lot of fireworks in this match.”

Peter Donegan – “We are never left wondering what Cristie is thinking.”

Stupples – “They are just a tough duo. They really bring out the best in each other. There are times when you think, if Cristie could caddie for Lexi, Lexi could win every single week she teed it up.”

Cristie Kerr and Lexi Thompson speaking with Golf Channel’s Jerry Foltz following their victory

Cristie Kerr – “It wasn’t pretty today. I didn’t contribute that much but when I was out of it she picked me up and I did the same on a few holes I was able to contribute.”

Lexi Thompson – “I just love watching her compete, how she never gives up and is always fired up to do better. I think that’s great in match play and having a partner like that by your side throughout every round.”

Thompson – “Keep on playing good golf and keep strong.”

Anna Nordqvist/Caroline Hedwall (SWE) def. Jessica Korda/Michelle Wie (USA) 2 up

Kay Cockerill – “When Caroline is at her best, she creates a feeling that she just wants to beat you. When she is at full strength, she is one of the best.”

Cockerill – “I always felt that Michelle is a great putter because she is so artistic and creative. That is what great putters are.”

Stupples – “What an impressive comeback. It is so rare in match play, especially in this format when you get that far down to be able to bring it back.”

Cockerill – “There is nothing worse than digging yourself a huge hole like Team U.S.A. did. Kudos for them for digging themselves out of it.”

Stupples – “This pairing can really draw from this experience and how they came back in order to play well the rest of the way.”

Stupples – “Anna has a knock for coming up big on final hole heroics.”

Stupples – “For this pairing to hang in there and to take it all the way to the 18th hole was huge. It is something for them to pull on, to move forward with the rest of these matches.”

Anna Nordqvist and Caroline Hedwall speaking with Golf Channel’s Kay Cockerill following their victory

Anna Nordqvist – We got off to such a good start. We were both making quite a few good putts. They made a good run at it. Some really tough holes out there. We just kept trying. It was a little bit of a struggle out there on a few holes. We won on 14 to get back to 1 up, that was quite important. They had a lot of good putts that didn’t go in but over all it is always a tough match, and they made a run for it.”

Caroline Hedwall – “I think we both have a lot of confidence in each other. You could kind of tell out here, Anna saved me a couple of times and I saved her. In the end we got the job done. Neither of us played our best on the back nine. It is just nice to put points on the board for Sweden and we are just looking forward to tomorrow.”

In Gee Chun/So Yeon Ryu (KOR) def. Teresa Lu/Wei-Ling Hsu (TPE) 2 up

Stupples – “They had to get to a settling down period. Has to be really tough out there playing in front of your home crowd nerves wise.”
