The WSG returned to Japan for the first time since 1990, and featured nearly 200 surfers who competed in individual men’s and women’s events while also earning points for their respective nations in team events. Japan’s Kanoa Igarashi and Australia’s Sally Fitzgibbons headlined the field in Tahara, while the U.S. earned bronze in the team rankings.
