Rio Olympic marathon gold medalist Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya is seeking a personal-best time – and potentially a world record – in the Berlin Marathon. His countryman Wilson Kipsang, who formerly held the marathon world record, is expected to contend as well in what is typically a fast course. The men’s marathon record has been broken six times since 2003, each time at the Berlin Marathon. Kenya’s Edna Kiplagat is expected to become the first able-bodied woman to complete all six World Marathon Majors over the course of her career (Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, New York City).

Paul Swangard calls the race alongside analyst Josh Cox on NBCSN.

Live coverage continues with the Chicago Marathon on Sunday, October 7, at 8 a.m. ET on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA and NBC Sports Gold, with the Amsterdam Marathon Sunday, October 21 live at 2:30 a.m. ET on NBC Sports Gold.
