OLYMPIC CHANNEL: HOME OF TEAM USA PRESENTS LIVE COVERAGE OF NEW CURLING WORLD CUP THIS WEEK

Live Coverage from Suzhou, China, Begins Wednesday at 6:30 a.m. ET on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA

STAMFORD, Conn. – Sept. 11, 2018 – NBC Sports presents 19 hours of coverage of the first leg of the Curling World Cup from Suzhou, China, beginning Wednesday at 6:30 a.m. ET on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA, as the United States faces South Korea in mixed doubles action.

The Curling World Cup is a new, four-legged international curling series that begins in Suzhou before making stops in Omaha, Neb., in December, where 2018 Olympic gold medalist John Shuster is scheduled to skip the U.S. men, and Jonkoping, Sweden, in February. The Grand Final will take place in Beijing, the host of the 2022 Olympic Winter Games, in May 2019.

Each event will have competitions for men, women and mixed doubles, and each tournament will be played as a double round robin with two groups of four. The top seeds from each group will play in their respective finals. Winners from each of the first three legs will compete at the Grand Final in Beijing.

2018 Olympian Nina Roth, who skipped the United States at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, will represent the Americans in the women’s tournament. 2018 U.S. champion Rich Ruohenen skips the American men’s contingent, while reigning U.S. champions Sarah Anderson and Korey Dropkin, who finished fifth together at the 2015 World Championships, will compete in mixed doubles.

Coverage concludes with the mixed doubles final on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 8:30 p.m. ET on Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA, and the men’s and women’s finals on Monday, Sept. 17, across Olympic Channel: Home of Team USA., OlympicChannel.com and the Olympic Channel app.
