On Abraham Ancer, leader at 13-under par (6-under 65 on Sunday, including a front-nine 30)

Johnny Miller – “He is having a good, solid week, not just with his putting, but with everything.”

Peter Jacobsen – “What a front nine. That is the answer right there.”

Gary Koch – “For a guy who has not won on the PGA TOUR, what a start to the round today.”

Miller – “His irons have been on fire.”

Dan Hicks – “He is moving on up.”

Abraham Ancer speaking with NBC’s Steve Sands following his round

Abraham Ancer – “Very fine line, this is a goofy game. Last week I felt like I hit the ball really good. I just really didn’t make anything. I hit a lot of good putts where I thought that would go in and they didn’t. It is a very fine line from being right there fighting for the cut and fighting to win the tournament.”

Ancer (on what experiences he will lean on heading into Sunday) – “Definitely playing with Francesco at the Quicken Loans. We were in the last group. He ended up playing an awesome round. Completely flawless. But I’m just going to draw back on that and see what I did wrong and what I did good and just focus on that, just have a good time, play some good golf tomorrow and have some fun.”

On Bryson DeChambeau, T2 at 12-under par (8-under 63 on Sunday)

Jim “Bones” Mackay – “The more I watch DeChambeau play, the more impressed I am.”

Hicks – “You can tell how close these two [Woods and DeChambeau] have become. Tiger has really endorsed DeChambeau as far as a guy that he thinks is one of the really good players of the future.”

Miller – “That was impressive. A 63 with Tiger in his first try.”

Bryson DeChambeau speaking with NBC’s Steve Sands following his round

Bryson DeChambeau – “I feel like I am just doing my job. Going out here and executing shots off the tee and in the fairway and hitting some greens and making some putts. It was a lot of fun out there.”

DeChambeau – “He [Tiger Woods] is my childhood idol. I grew up admiring him and trying to be like him. Being able to play for the first time here in Boston; that was fun. That was something I will never forget. And to play as well as I did that is something I’ll never forget.”

DeChambeau – “Everybody was riled up. Tiger is going to create this big crowd. Sometimes my ears we’re ringing because it was so loud. But, that’s always fun. I appreciate that, and I certainly appreciate what he has done for the game. He’s allowed me to be out here. He has been an inspiration for me and to be able to play alongside him and play well is a lot of fun.”

On Tyrrell Hatton, T2 at 12-under par (2-under 69 on Sunday)

Miller – “One of my best friends said if you play golf long enough it will drive you crazy. He is getting a fast start on that.”

Hicks – “What a day for Terrell Hatton. He could have gone anywhere on the leaderboard early. Had that great start, started leaking oil and then he comes back with a birdie at the last.”
