New Season, Newly Promoted Teams: Cardiff City

First match: Bournemouth v. Cardiff City, Sat., August 11, 10 a.m. ET

Cardiff City earned automatic promotion to the 2018-19 Premier League by finishing in 2nd place in the Championship last season. They finished two points above 3rd-place Fulham, and did not clinch automatic promotion until the final day of the season. This will be Cardiff’s second-ever season in the Premier League, having finished in last place in 2013-14. Cardiff will be the only Welsh team in the Premier League this season, as their rivals Swansea City were relegated to the Championship last season. Known as “the Bluebirds,” Cardiff City have won only one major trophy in their history, lifting the FA Cup in 1927. To date, Cardiff are the only non-English side to win the FA Cup.
