Kevin Kisner (6-under, T-1st) speaking with Golf Channel’s Steve Sands following his round
Kevin Kisner
– “They call it Car-nasty for a reason. It’s difficult. Every aspect. Even when you think you’ve got it, it’ll jump up and bite you. We’ve been fortunate with the conditions, it hasn’t blown yet. I think it’ll blow this weekend and make it even more difficult. Who knows what’s going to happen. We’re going to just keep trying to get after it.”

On Kisner
Johnny Miller – “That [putting] stroke looks like a Tom Watson stroke.”
Peter Jacobsen – “He’s got that Raymond Floyd look. When he gets that look in his eyes you just know there’s no backing off.”

Pat Perez (5-under, T-3rd) speaking with Sands following his round
Pat Perez – “Luckily for me this isn’t a real driver’s course. I can get the ball down and running, which I like. It’s the only reason I’m kind of in it. When I get greens like this, I feel like I can make anything.”

Jordan Spieth (3-under, T-11th) speaking with Sands following his round
Jordan Spieth – “My short game was a little stronger today. I felt like neither day has been even in a B-range of ball striking. But I’m working the right way… As long as there’s a level of trust and it continues to improve, it’ll get better each day. And the short game was sharp today.”

Rickie Fowler (3-under, T-11th) speaking with Sands following his round
Rickie Fowler – “You’re definitely going to have some birdie opportunities on the back nine if you hit it in the fairway… Luckily so far – other than 16 – I’ve been playing the final stretch quite nicely. We’ll figure out 16 this weekend and be just fine.”

On Friday’s Second Round at The Open
Miller – “The greens are really holding. There is not a flagstick you can’t go at right now. And the tough pot bunkers, before it was like hitting out of sugar. The ball would hit and sort of chase because you couldn’t spin it. Now you can spin it out of those bunkers. It is definitely playing easier.”
