NBC SPORTS GROUP WINS SIX SPORTS EMMY AWARDS

For 9th Time in 10 Years, Sunday Night Football Wins Emmy for Outstanding Live Sports Series

Mike “Doc” Emrick Wins Play-by-Play Sports Emmy for Record-Tying 5th Consecutive Year; Telemundo’s Andres Cantor Wins 3rd Sports Emmy

Golf Channel Wins Sports Emmy for Second Consecutive Year; Kentucky Derby & Ironman Triathlon Coverage Earn Honors

NEW YORK, NY – May 8, 2018 – NBC Sports Group tonight won six Sports Emmy Awards for excellence in sports television production, highlighted by Sunday Night Football’s ninth award for outstanding live sports series in 10 years; and individual honors for Mike “Doc” Emrick and Telemundo’s Andres Cantor. The awards were presented by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences at Frederick P. Rose Hall, Home of Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Sunday Night Football, primetime television’s No. 1 show for an unprecedented seven consecutive years, won for Outstanding Live Sports Series for the ninth time in 10 years.

Golf Channel’s Golf Central earned a Sports Emmy for the second consecutive year, winning this year in the Outstanding Longform Editing category for Golf Central’s “Feeling and Reality: The Billy Hurley Story.”

In addition, NBC’s presentation of the 143rd Kentucky Derby won for Outstanding Camera Work; and the Ironman World Championship earned honors for Outstanding Edited Sports Coverage.

NBC Sports Group accounted for two on-air talent awards:

  • Mike “Doc” Emrick, who leads NBC Sports’ NHL broadcast team, won a record-tying fifth consecutive Emmy (Joe Buck) and sixth in eight years for Outstanding Sports Personality-Play by Play.
  • Andres Cantor (Telemundo), who will be the lead voice of Telemundo Deportes’ coverage of 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia from June 14-July 15, earned his third Sports Emmy.
