NBCSN POSTS ITS MOST-WATCHED APRIL EVER, LED BY NHL STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS & PREMIER LEAGUE

Year-to-Date NBCSN Total Day Viewership up 151% vs. Last Year

 

Golf Channel Total Day Viewership #1 Among Single Sport Networks in April; The Players Championship Coming up May 10-13

 

STAMFORD, Conn. — May 2, 2018 – Buoyed by the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs and a full slate of Premier League matches, NBCSN delivered the most-watched April in the network’s history in both Total Day and primetime, according to live plus same day data released by Nielsen.

NBCSN, which also ranked as the #2 sports cable network in both metrics for the month, averaged 168,000 Total Day viewers in the month (April 2-29), up 11% from April 2017 (151,000), and 515,000 primetime viewers, up 20% from last April (430,000).

Year-to-date, NBCSN’s Total Day performance (271,000 viewers) is up 151% from last year at this point (108,000). Excluding the Winter Olympics, NBCSN’s year-to-date Total Day viewership (123,000) is up 14% from 2017.

 

In addition, NBC Sports Group’s Golf Channel averaged 129,000 Total Day viewers in April, to rank as the #1 single sports network for the third consecutive month. Golf Channel is carrying significant momentum into coverage of The Players Championship next week, May 10-13, with nearly 90 hours of live programming including Live From the Players starting Monday, May 7.

Additional highlights:

  • Three NHL Stanley Cup Playoff games on NBCSN posted a Total Audience Delivery (TAD) average of at least 1.25 million viewers – the most ever in April, and up from one such game last year.

 

  • Game 7 of the First Round series between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins on April 25 averaged a TAD of 1.484 million viewers, making it the best First Round game ever on NBCSN.

 

NBC Sports Group continues its Championship Season this month, highlighted by the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs, Triple Crown horse racing, The Players Championship, the conclusion of the Premier League season, including Championship Sunday, the French Open, IndyCar racing, and the Tour de France.
