NBC Sports Group Announces Broadcast Pairings Through Sunday


STAMFORD, Conn. – April 13, 2018 – NBC Sports Group will present 11 NHL Stanley Cup Playoff games this weekend, including all 16 playoff teams in action across the networks of NBCUniversal, and the first four matchups of the Stanley Cup Playoffs on NBC.

Tonight’s game coverage begins at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN with Game 2 of the (3) Philadelphia Flyers-(2) Pittsburgh Penguins series, followed by Game 2 of the (WC1) Los Angeles Kings-(1) Vegas Golden Knights series at 10 p.m. ET on NBCSN.

CNBC continues its Stanley Cup Playoff coverage tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET, when the (2) Winnipeg Jets host the (3) Minnesota Wild in Game 2 of their first-round series.

This weekend’s coverage also features the first four games of the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs on NBC, beginning Saturday at 3 p.m. ET with regionalized coverage of Game 2 of the (WC2) Colorado Avalanche-(1) Nashville Predators and (WC2) New Jersey Devils-(1) Tampa Bay Lightning series.

NBC’s coverage continues with a primetime Original Six clash on Saturday night at 8 p.m. ET, when the (2) Boston Bruins host the (3) Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 2 of their series, followed by Game 3 of the (2) Pittsburgh Penguins-(3) Philadelphia Flyers series on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET.

TONIGHT – APRIL 13

NHL Live, hosted by Kathryn Tappen, with analysts Eddie Olczyk and Keith Jones, begins at 6 p.m. ET on NBCSN. Paul Burmeister, Jeremy Roenick and Anson Carter will anchor USA Network’s studio coverage.

Game coverage starts on NBCSN at 7 p.m. ET, when the Flyers look to bounce back and even their series against the Penguins. Pittsburgh dominated Philadelphia in Game 1, a 7-0 rout, led by a natural hat trick from Sidney Crosby. Matt Murray made 24 saves to record the shutout, his third consecutive playoff shutout dating back to the 2017 Stanley Cup Final.

USA Network presents Game 2 of Minnesota-Winnipeg at 7:30 p.m. ET, as the Wild look to even their series with the Jets. Winnipeg defeated Minnesota, 3-2, in Game 1 on Wednesday night, as 19-year-old Patrik Laine scored the tying goal in the third period, and defenseman Joe Morrow scored the game-winner late in the third period.

NBCSN’s coverage continues at 10 p.m. ET, with Game 2 of the Kings-Golden Knights series. Marc-Andre Fleury made 30 shutouts to record a shutout and give Vegas a 1-0 win in its first-ever playoff game on Wednesday night.


SATURDAY, APRIL 14

NBC opens its 2018 Stanley Cup Playoff coverage on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET with a pair of Game 2 matchups. Colorado will look to bounce back from a 5-2 loss to Nashville in Game 1, while the New Jersey Devils will look to even their series against the Tampa Bay Lightning following their own 5-2 loss in Game 1.

 

  • In Florida and New York metro area, TB-NJ will air on NBC; COL-NSH will air on CNBC.

 

  • In the remainder of the country, COL-NSH will air on NBC, and TB-NJ will air on CNBC.

 

Coverage continues on NBC at 8 p.m. ET with a primetime matchup between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins in Game 2 of their first-round series. Boston defeated Toronto, 5-1, in Game 1 on Thursday, led by three points (1g/2a) from David Pastrnak. NBCSN picks up coverage at 10:30 p.m. ET with Game 2 of Sharks-Ducks, following San Jose’s 3-0 win on Thursday night, highlighted by two goals from Evander Kane.

SUNDAY, APRIL 15

Sunday’s coverage begins on NBC with Game 3 of Penguins-Flyers, followed by Game 2 of Blue Jackets-Capitals on CNBC at 7:30 p.m. ET, as the Caps try to bounce back from a 4-3 overtime loss in Game 1. NBCSN presents a Game 3 doubleheader on Sunday Night, beginning at 7 p.m. ET with Jets-Wild, followed by Golden Knights-Kings at 10 p.m. ET.
