On Pernilla Lindberg, ANA Inspiration winner with a birdie on the eighth playoff hole

Terry Gannon – “She wins the ANA Inspiration and beats one of the game’s best to do it, with an extra day’s work”

Gannon – “Oh the ups and downs that mom and dad went through this week.”

Judy Rankin – “She is no longer in the list of players who are the best players to have never won.”

Rankin – “She smiles easily and is so friendly with people. She will definitely be smiling a little more easily from now on. She has accomplished one huge thing in her life.”

Rankin – “There was some great golf. It was really compelling and fun to watch.”

Rankin – “Lot of talent and a lot of heart.”

Jerry Foltz – “Lot of guts.”

Gannon – “Wasn’t going to back down. She has gained a lot of fans and a lot of respect this week.”

Rankin – “She has had the crossover week that all players look for as they get better and better playing professional golf.”

Gannon – She has proven to herself and everybody else out there that she is for real. To hold that for four straight days at a major championship is something.”

Pernilla Lindberg speaking with Golf Channel’s Jerry Foltz after her victory

Pernilla Lindberg– “I just know I’m a grinder and towards the end of yesterday I told myself, ‘This is mine. I’m going to do this.’ I just knew I could. I just kept fighting away. I couldn’t believe that went in, and the first thing I said when I made that putt is that I knew Inbee was going to hole hers too, so I was already thinking about the 17th hole again. But she didn’t. It’s mine.”

Lindberg – “I just looked at every day as the same thing again. Even today with a playoff, it just felt like I went out and did my same routine. Every night I just did my routine. I just felt so calm and I felt like this could be mine.”

Lindberg – “I have dreamt about this moment since I was a kid. For as long as I can remember. I remember writing some goals right when I got to high school about the dream scenario, which obviously would be to win a major championship and leave a mark in history. But at the same time, that felt like too big of a dream to come true. And it has.”

Lindberg – “It is so cool. The only reason I am playing golf is because of my parents. I am so happy they are here. I have probably given my dad a few heart attacks over the last few days. But I’m so happy they are here and we get to celebrate this together.”

On Inbee Park

Kay Cockerill – “There is no weakness to Inbee’s game. When she is on, her wedges are excellent.”

Cockerill – “She is so serene in between putts. Her routine for putting is so quick and decisive.”

Cockerill – “It doesn’t matter how big the moment is, she doesn’t change what she does.”

Inbee Park speaking with Lisa Cornwell following the conclusion of the playoff

Inbee Park – “I am really satisfied with the way I’m playing this year. Even if I didn’t win today I felt like I put up a good fight this week all week. Even in the playoffs I didn’t make much mistakes but I couldn’t make the putts. This morning the greens were a little slower than I anticipated so I hit a couple of putts short. A little bit disappointed but I’m really happy with the way I played this week.”

Park – “The putt Pernilla made on the last was a champions putt. You can’t beat that.”

Park – “I am really happy for Pernilla. This win was not an easy major win for her as well. Eight-hole playoff, I mean I have never done something like that before either. I’m sure she will have a great future and a great championship, so congratulations to her.”

On the playoff between Inbee Park and Pernilla Lindberg

Rankin – “Sudden death playoffs are a different animal. You want to be aggressive, and you want to give yourself every chance but you don’t want to be the one to make a mistake.”

Rankin – “You’re tired because you haven’t had a lot of sleep. The momentum and the emotion of the night before is hard to muster up again and in the exact same way.”

Rankin – I think these two players – and including Jennifer Song who got eliminated last night – they captured the imagination of so many people. The way they conducted themselves and the way they played the playoff. These fans want to see what the end game is.

Rankin – It was really fun, we saw shots holed, we saw great golf. We didn’t see too much golf that was disappointing. It was amazing.”
