Bay Hill Club & Lodge, Orlando, Fla.
Saturday, March, 17, 2018

*NBC Sports’ final round coverage of the Arnold Palmer Invitational begins at 12:30 p.m. ET on Golf Channel and continues at 2 p.m. on NBC.*

On Saturday’s third round
Johnny Miller – “[Henrik Stenson] had a great chance to just spread eagle the field… And Bryson DeChambeau, both of them could have really done themselves good with a 68 today. They’d have had a four or five shot lead… Justin Rose is looking pretty good [going into Sunday] I think. And so is McIlroy.”
David Feherty – “You’ve got a bunch of players kind of loading up behind you. And if you can’t make any progress forwards, it’s like coming around turn three. Tomorrow is ‘down the stretch they come.’ It’s a horse race.”
Roger Maltbie – “The golf course really has been prepared and presented to the players in a major championship fashion. Firm, fast greens. Rough that’s enough to be a problem. It’s been quite the test.”

Rory McIlroy (10-under, 3rd) speaking with Sands following his round
Rory McIlroy – “I found something that I could go with into this week with and hopefully beyond. Freed up a little bit with my putting. Just became a little more instinctive with that, a little more reactive… I came into this week really positive. It’s a golf course I’ve played well before. And I just felt a little more in control of my game, in control of my swing. And felt like if that could translate from practice to the golf course, I felt like I could have a good week.”

Tiger Woods (7-under, T-10th) speaking with Sands following his round
Tiger Woods – “Right now I’m four [shots back] and I’ll probably be about five or six by the end of the day. And so as I said, I’m going to have to shoot a low one tomorrow and probably get a little bit of help. But my responsibility is to go out there and shoot a low one first.”

On Woods
Miller – “You notice how all the young players have a way shorter backswing than they did 10 years ago. And all the top players now are playing cuts. And now [Tiger] is playing a lot more cuts with a very short backswing and firing that right side. That’s the best part about his swing right now, is the right side is chasing right after it. Very athletic.”
